How is it already December?!

It seems like we were just ushering 2022 in, and now we’re getting closer to saying goodbye to this year and welcoming 2023. The year has gone by in the blink of an eye, but what a year it’s been for us at C3!

We’ve welcomed new faces, chased and conquered our goals, and continued to better ourselves as martial artists; I am beyond proud of all the hard work you have all put in this year. I said in January that I had a feeling that this year was going to be a great one for us, and I think we definitely lived up to that!

As we move deeper into Winter, please remember to take care of yourselves. Besides the seasonal sicknesses that are going around, we’ve already seen our first snowfall. If you can’t safely make it to class, stay home! If you’re sick, stay home! Don’t risk getting your teammates sick or getting into a wreck, we aren’t going anywhere!

Welcome New Students!

Every month, more and more people decide to start or continue their martial arts journey with us. Last month we welcomed the following students:

James Brook

Jack Hughes

Nicolas Borrelli

Jonathan Glynn

Welcome to the C3 family!

Changes to our Schedule!

We have made some changes to our class schedule!

Friday’s 6:45pm class is now a Brazilian JiuJitsu class, replacing Open Roll. We have also added a new class to Saturday mornings; while the Ladies Kickboxing class will be on one training floor, the other will be Competition BJJ/Grappling class led by C3 pro Tycen Lynn. This will be a more open mat style of class geared towards those who are interested in getting in some hard, tough rolls. The class may be gi or no gi, the choice is Tycen’s. My suggestion: bring both and be prepared to work!

As a reminder, don’t forget about Coach Bilal Hasan’s Advanced Kickboxing/Muay Thai class on Monday and Wednesdays at 8pm! This class has been a hit since we added it in. Remember that you either need a coach’s permission to attend, it both your Level 1 and Level 2 Kickboxing certification to attend. Talk to a coach if you’re interested!

Starting in January of 2023, Chris “Bad Apple” Vasil will be teaching a new MMA class on Friday nights at 5pm! This is not Fighter’s Training, but ability to participate will be with coach’s permission. Students interested in this class should have a good sense of their fundamentals in both their standup striking skills as well as their grappling skills.

Checkmat Gi’s still Available for Purchase!

While the patches are still being manufactured and unfortunately wont be ready for another few weeks, we are still accepting orders for the new C3/Checkmat BJJ gis. The gi’s are $129.99+tax, and can serve as both training and competition gi’s for our students. They unfortunately do not come with a belt, so if you need a belt you will have to purchase one.

Gis will be available in sizes A0, A1, A1L, A2, A2L, A3, A4, and A5. Get yours and represent C3 and Checkmat!

New Belts Awarded In Brazilian JiuJitsu!

Congratulations to the following students for earning their next belts in Brazilian JiuJitsu:

Pavel Bredikhen

Dylan Hutchinson

Bilal Hasan

Todd Ware

Kevin Bloomfield

We are proud of the work you’ve all put in to be promoted!

#Succ3ssful Night of Fights!

Fight Quest 7 in Auburn was another great night for our team!

Isaiah Young utilized great wrestling and ground and pound to take home the unanimous decision victory; great job Isaiah!

Javi Miramontes returned to action after a long layoff and looked like he never lost a step; Javi’s diverse striking and movement proved too much for his opponent, earning Javi the unanimous decisionwin. Congrats Javi!

While Pavel Bredihken didn’t come home with the outcome we all wanted, Pavel still showed a ton of heart and improvement before getting caught in a choke in the second round. We know how much courage it takes to step into the ring; we know you’ll be back stronger and better than ever!

Level Up In Our Kickboxing Program!

While kickboxing is a popular competitive sport and martial arts style, it doesn't have a belt system to show progression of skill and knowledge like how Karate, Taekwondo, and other traditional martial arts do. Because of that, it can be hard sometimes for students to measure their progress.

We have at C3 our Kickboxing Certification program to do just that! These levels are meant to both your physical skills and knowledge of kickboxing; as the levels progress, the techniques and concepts will get more and more difficult. The list of techniques and terms for each Level are located on the shelf above the big mirror on the main training floor.

To earn your certifications, students must successfully pass a brief pretest to show that they are ready to test. If they pass that, they will be allowed to do the full test, which is much longer. If the student passes, they earn their certificate as well as one of the wrist bands shown in the picture!

Get with a coach and see if you're ready to test! Let's see how many students we can get to level up in 2022!

Upcoming Fights!

Two of our fighters are headed to Atlantic City! Bilal Hasan will be making his professional MMA debut, and Chris “Bad Apple” Vasil will be looking to add another pro win to his record! The fight is on Friday December 16th, and we will be streaming the fights at the gym! If you aren’t at the gym, tune in on UFC Fight Pass and watch our guys go handle business!

Happy Holidays!
