The Granby Highlands Trails Conservation Easement
We're excited to announce our latest project:
The Granby Highlands Trails Conservation Easement!
The Granby Highlands Trails Conservation Easement will permanently conserve:

  • 785 acres of vital wildlife habitat and scenic and recreational open space

  • 2 miles of Colorado River access

  • 10 miles of proposed trails

...and all just 2 miles from downtown Granby!

The property is located north of the intersection of US-40 and US-34, in the Town of Granby. The property is visible for nearly all motorists who pass through Grand County. Approximately 480 acres, including the river mileage, will be public recreational open space. Additionally, this recreational space will include a proposed 10 miles of trails. Per consultation with local CPW staff, the remaining 300 acres will be preserved year-round for wildlife habitat, without recreational access.
Help us achieve this easement and make a lasting impact on Grand County's open spaces! With your support, Colorado Headwaters Land Trust can raise the $325,000 needed to secure this easement.
Hats Off for Headwaters Recap
Thank you to all who supported and attended our 2022 Hats Off for Headwaters celebration! What a wonderful day to come together as a community and celebrate the open spaces of Grand County! With your enthusiasm, we raised nearly $50,000 in support of land conservation and stewardship in Grand County, including for the Granby Highlands-Trails Conservation Easement project.
