By Heather Sears, Tourism & Events Coordinator
When I was a kid, I used to follow the rainbow with my eyes, down to the ground and imagine a pot of gold there. That’s what I think of when I look around the Sebastian River Area. I am at the end of the rainbow and standing in that shiny pot of gold. Maybe it’s the way the sun shimmers on the water. Maybe it’s all the smiling, happy people.

If you're visiting the Sebastian River Area in March, it’s not a bad idea to bring binoculars and a camera. Spring has sprung here and I have already spotted three bald eagles in the sky. If you are not outside, you are missing out. Head in literally any direction and you will find an abundance of wildlife.

After you’re done exploring the wilderness, make sure to refuel your body with food and libations at our friendly local establishments. We have many different styles of restaurants and breweries. Oh and, we actually have gold here too. Spanish gold, salvaged from the shipwrecks of the 1715 Treasure Fleet that crashed along our beaches. Mel Fisher’s Treasure Museum and Gift Shop displays pieces from this wreck where you can also buy your very own piece of treasure or rent a metal detector and find it yourself!

Each day holds new discoveries. Make sure you plan to stay for awhile. Check out our many resorts, hotels, and campsites for the perfect home away from home. Whether you’re in the woods of Fellsmere, or the waterfront of Sebastian, you are one lucky visitor. Keep scrolling to find out all of what's happening in the Sebastian River Area this month.
