Dear Residents -
I hope everyone survived the snow and ice last weekend. Now, it’s time to get ready for some extreme cold temperatures expected this weekend. So, before you head out, please review the cold weather safety tips below from the Orangetown Police Department.
This Tuesday, I had the pleasure of attending a luncheon for Sr. Mary Eileen O’Brien, who is retiring after 35 years of service as President of Dominican University. I was honored to present Sr. Mary Eileen with an Orangetown Proclamation, which declared January 16, 2024 as “Sr. Mary Eileen O’Brien Day.” Congratulations on a well-deserved retirement!
I want to take this opportunity to thank Kevin Hardy and his team at Meals on Wheels Rockland for opening a Senior Center in Orangetown. On Monday, January 22nd at 10 am, the new center doors will open at 35 Kings Highway in Tappan, NY. The program, which is supported in part by the Rockland County Office for the Aging, the NYS Office of the Aging, the Administration on Aging and the County of Rockland, will offer socialization, entertainment, outings, warm lunches and much more to our seniors.
The new Senior Center will operate from Monday through Friday and transportation will be available. For more information, visit the website at www.mowrockland.org or call (845) 580-2292. I look forward to the grand opening of this very important resource in Orangetown later this year.
Enjoy your weekend and try to stay warm!
Regards,
