Together with more than a dozen industry partners, San Diego Regional EDC is proud to announce the newly designated Verified Programs. Celebrated by industry as best preparing students for jobs in computing and engineering roles, these 30 education programs represent 16 different institutions and 31,000 students across San Diego and Imperial Counties. Included in this list are the majority of our publicly funded community colleges and universities:

Programs were verified as part of a rigorous evaluation process led by Advancing San Diego, the flagship program of EDC’s Talent Initiatives, which serves to double the production of skilled workers in San Diego while prioritizing historically underrepresented populations in the innovation economy.

If you're a company: Companies in San Diego and Imperial Counties are invited to apply to host funded computing, engineering, and/or business interns for the summer of 2024. Sign up for our information session on January 9th.

We're Hiring!

To support those internships mentioned above, we will be hiring part-time staff to support the work and be the main point of contact for interested students. We are looking for one specialist for the Business, Computing, and Engineering internships - this individual will work with our existing Internship Specialist who supported Summer 2023 internships. We are also looking for one specialist for the Education work experience program who will work with our K-12 Coordinator. Communities of Practice

The business, computing, and engineering Communities of Practice just wrapped up for 2023.Thanks to those who have joined our regional conversations! The CoP's will pick back up in April, 2024. Want to join a K-16 Collaborative CoP? Register HERE


Since April is a long time from now, we're planning to host an in-person BEERS AND GEARS event in early Spring for our CoP members. Network with colleagues in business, computing, and engineering across educational segments. Tour the MiraCosta TCI Engineering Tech facilities and visit the BrewTech lab for beer tasting!

K-12 District Information

K-16 Undergraduate Student Internship Program

Seeking Host LEAs!

The K-16 Collaborative is pleased to invite San Diego and Imperial County LEAs to host participating college students from our Undergraduate Student Internship Program. This program is designed to allow current college students to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience with K-12 students in order to better prepare for careers in teaching. We are now seeking K-12 LEAs to host undergraduate students at elementary, middle and/or high school sites during the 24-25 school year. To learn more about how your LEA can host participating college students, click on the button below to watch the recording, or visit the K-16 website.

The K-16 team is busy prepping for Summer 2024 internships for business, computing, and engineering students.

Grant Announcements

Expenditure Reporting Workshop Coming Soon!


The K-16 Collaborative team is excited to announce an Expenditure Reporting Workshop on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 10:00am focused on the best ways to accomplish your bi-annual expenditure reporting. The workshop format will include:

  • Report demos to help address some of the frequent expenditure formatting questions
  • Address backup documentation needed for auditing purposes


This workshop is meant for all main points of contact on the K-16 Collaborative Work Plan and Budget Application, as well as fiscal personnel from all districts and colleges who are receiving funds.

Important K-16 Collaborative Reporting Updates



Once we are back from the holiday break, we will send out notifications regarding:

  • Quarterly narrative reporting for activities from Oct 1-Dec 31, 2023
  • Budget and expenditure reports for spending between June 30-Dec 31, 2023. Please contact Mayra if you have any questions about this request.
  • Data reporting (enrollment data only - this will be sent out by Christine by the end of the week)

California Jobs First Initiative

Regional Meetings - Learn How to Get Involved!


The Southern Border Coalition, as part of the California Jobs First initiative (previously, CERF), will be hosting 3 meetings in San Diego this week to share more information about the $14M Catalyst Program and how you can help identify and vote on which pre-development projects will receive a portion of these funds through Coalition Membership. Further, the Coalition Members will be electing Sector Leads in January, the Sector Leads will form the governing body of the Coalition. 


Please RSVP here for the meeting(s) you plan to attend and indicate if you have any interpretation and/or childcare service needs. This will help the Co-conveners plan accordingly and make proper arrangements for all attendees. Meals will also be provided. The SBC hopes you can join us!
