A Note from the Director

Good evening. A reminder that tomorrow is a non-instructional day, so there is no school for Ivymount School students.

We were pleased with our fantastic turnout for Back to School Night. We appreciate that so many parents and caregivers were able to attend. If you could not participate, you can access information from the Information Fair tables in PDF form on Operoo. We have also included information shared by program staff for your reference. See below for how to access those Resources.

We hope you had a chance to speak with the teams working with your student, got a glimpse of what will be happening throughout the school year, and connected with fellow parents. We also hope you found the B2SN Information Fair format helpful for gathering information about the classroom and beyond.

Special thanks to those who had dual roles - as parents and school community leaders - for speaking at Back to School Night: Melissa Flaim, Ivymount Foundation Gala Co-Chair, Jen Berzok, Corporate Board President, and Ken Schmidt and Merrill Spiegel, PTA.

Have a great night.

Sincerely,

Susan Holt

Thanks for Joining Us at

Back to School Night

Thank you to the Ivymount community for attending our first in-person Back to School Night since 2019! It was so special to welcome you back to campus, and we were thrilled with the turnout. We appreciate you stopping by our informational fair to meet with related service providers and hear from the PTA and Ivymount Foundation Gala chairs about the exciting things and how to get involved. In addition, parents and families visited classrooms to learn more about curricula and plans for the upcoming school year. Congratulations to the four families who won t-shirts in our raffle.

Thank you to those who supported our student-led businesses by ordering our first "layered ivy" t-shirt. The shirts will be delivered in the coming weeks. We will be designing additional spirit wear options in the future.

Family Resources

For future reference and for those unable to attend, we've compiled the welcome presentation and the informational flyers into a single location on Operoo. For easy use, remember to download the Operoo app on your personal devices and bookmark it on your desktop.

MAP Social Justice Lesson 2022

Discussions have focused on ability, and the goal was to help students identify how ability affects them in their daily lives and what society can do to be more open, accepting, and helpful to them and others like them.

Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month

Check out the creative ways our Autism Program is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! Classrooms helped decorate the halls in honor of this important month, which recognizes the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States. Students created posters honoring influential Hispanic Americans, sharing fun facts from Hispanic history, and more.
