Navy SEAL and BNHS alumnus Gage Ingram sacrifices life for international safety

Navy SEAL and Byron Nelson High School alumnus Gage Ingram recently scarified his life defending international safety, taking part in an operation to prevent missile components from reaching militants who attack peaceful ships.

Mobile Food Pantry location changed

Due to construction in the area, the NISD monthly Mobile Food Pantry is changing location and implementing a drive-thru service. Beginning on February 17, the monthly food pantry will move to the NISD Temporary Administration Building (2051 Texan Drive, Justin TX 76247). This is located next door to the previous location which is now a construction zone.


Attendees should enter Texan Drive from FM 156 (rather than TX 114) as traffic will not be allowed to turn left from Texan Drive into the food pantry location. More details can be found on this map. For more information, visit www.nisdtx.org.


The Mobile Food Pantry is a partnership between Northwest ISD, Tarrant Area Food Bank and the Northwest ISD Education Foundation. It is open on the third Saturday of each month from 9 to 11 a.m. or until food runs out.

13 NISD students earn TMEA All-State honors

Northwest ISD would like to congratulate the 13 students selected to Texas Music Educators Association’s (TMEA) All-State ensembles, the highest honor a high school musician can achieve in Texas. These top-ranking musicians have advanced through progressively tougher rounds of competitions to earn a spot in one of 18 Texas All-State ensembles sponsored by the Band, Orchestra and Vocal Divisions.


NISD’s All-State Musicians will now perform in San Antonio on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Henry B. González Convention Center as part of the 2024 TMEA Clinic/Convention.

High School Musical opens tonight at Eaton

The first of four chances to check out High School Musical at Eaton High School is tonight! 


A true campus collaboration of all that is EHS, the show features more non-theatre students than any production in school history. From the state-champion cheerleaders to the marching band, students from every corner of Eaton will be on stage in this high-energy recreation of the smash-hit movie musical!

HBCU Night set for February 8

Northwest ISD, in partnership with Keller ISD, is hosting a Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) Night on Thursday, February 8, at Eaton High School (1350 Eagle Blvd., Haslet, TX 76052) at 6:30 p.m.


The event is open to the public and free for anyone to attend. It will start with an alumni panel which will be followed by a college fair. Attendees will connect with HBCU alumni, attend parent informational breakout sessions, learn about traditionally black sororities and fraternities, discover potential scholarships and talk to HBCU admissions representatives.

Inaugural Night of Stars to showcase NISD theatre

Northwest ISD Fine Arts will host the inaugural Night of Stars, a celebration of the district’s theatre students and programs, on Saturday, February 3. The show will start at 7 p.m. with a red-carpet reception preceding at 5:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Byron Nelson Performing Arts Center (2775 Bobcat Blvd., Trophy Club TX 76262).


Similar to the NISD band, dance and cheer showcases, Night of Stars will showcase the talents and efforts of theatre students from throughout Northwest ISD. The show will feature performances from each of this year’s NISD musicals, including Matilda (Northwest HS), Tuck Everlasting (Byron Nelson HS) and High School Musical (Eaton HS).

Leap into learning with EXPO 2024

Annually, Northwest ISD's EXPO showcase celebrates future-ready learning by involving students, teachers and the community in an exhibition of Northwest ISD’s innovative and inspiring educational opportunities. The event gives students the chance to shine as they fine tune their presentation skills and communicate their innovative ideas in a variety of ways.


Combined with culinary arts, photography, orchestra, career and technology pathways and other groups across the district, EXPO 2024 is sure to be an unforgettable night.


Please join us as we celebrate our student achievements on February 29, at Byron Nelson High School, located at 2775 Bobcat Boulevard in Trophy Club.

J.C. Thompson Elementary staff member donates kidney over Winter Break

Louise Bailey, a retired teacher now working as an art assistant at J.C. Thompson Elementary, didn't have a typical Winter Break. In fact, she was one of three North Texas educators who underwent a surgical procedure to donate a kidney.

Not only did Ms. Bailey make a life-giving sacrifice for her friend, she was back on campus serving kids when the doors opened in January!

NISD holds annual Spanish Spelling Bee

There were 31 students — from third, fourth and fifth grade at Prairie View Elementary and Roanoke Elementary School — on site to compete in Northwest ISD's fourth annual Spanish Spelling Bee earlier this month!


The annual event, supported by Northwest ISD Education Foundation, Inc. and other local entities and businesses, challenges students to correctly spell difficult and unique vocabulary words in Spanish.

District Book Brawl a success

The 2024 District Book Brawl, held at Worthington Middle School, was a huge success earlier this week! Students and families gathered in the cafeteria to watch three teams from each middle school compete in the ultimate book trivia challenge. Students prepared for the competition by reading a set of books selected by the middle school library media specialists.


Congratulations to everyone who competed to celebrate reading and literacy!

Teacher Interview Fair set for March 21

Northwest ISD will host a Teacher Interview Fair from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, where quality teacher applicants can attend an event to meet district administrators and have interviews.


Because this is an invitation-only event, interested individuals must complete an employment application and apply to the interview fair at this link. Qualified candidates will receive additional information and details.

NEF now accepting scholarship applications

The Northwest ISD Education Foundation has opened its student scholarship application, providing graduating seniors from the district with the opportunity to apply for dozens of scholarships. This year, NEF will award more than $160,000!


The application is open to all graduating seniors in Northwest ISD who plan to enroll in an accredited institution in the summer or fall of 2024. Accredited institutions include private or community college, private or public universities, military academies, and vocational or trade school.


The online application, which will remain open through Thursday, February 29, is available at the foundation’s website, www.nisdtx.org/nef. Applicants should review the scholarship policy and information guide prior to starting the application.

NEF Corn Hole Tournament set for February 10

Join the Northwest ISD Education Foundation for a fun day of corn hole competition to raise funds for teachers and students in Northwest ISD! The tournament is Saturday, February 10 at the Mule Barn in Justin. The double elimination tournament is run by the Texas Cornhole League and there will be social and competitive divisions. Help restock immediate needs in the NEF Resource Store and Library

The Northwest ISD Education Foundation’s resource store and library provides support to NISD teachers and students through free resources and educational materials. NISD teachers can “shop” for school and classroom supplies, snack packs, books and more. All items are free to district educators! This school year, NEF has served more than 940 educators from across the district!

 

You can help by donating from the store’s online wishlist. Immediate needs include wide-ruled composition notebooks, snacks, pencil boxes, rulers, calculators, index cards and books. You can also help by volunteering in the store! Volunteers help sticker and prep inventory, restock shelves and fulfill online requests from teachers.
