Diversity Training for Shaker Heights Athletes

The Athletic Department, Sports Boosters, and Shaker Schools Foundation teamed with the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio, a local organization that is "committed to creating communities where all people are connected, respected, and valued" to provide in-person upstander and conflict resolution training for more than 100 High School student-athletes representing more than 20 athletic programs.

The training, which took place in two sessions, focused on open dialogue and guided strategies to continue building a capacity for addressing and resolving conflict in and out of the athletic arena; identifying race and ethnicity and the impact each have on athletics; and discussing and identifying bystander intervention tools.
