Candace Spann
MSW Intern
Candace is an MSW student at Albany State University. Outside of Kate’s Club, she loves to babysit, hang out with family, read, and take walks with her dog Nala. Candace chose Kate’s Club for her placement because she loved the mission and the work that the organization does within the community, and she wanted to be a part of helping make a difference in children’s lives. She is currently planning to work with us for both years of her internship placements; her expected graduation date is May 2024.

Lauren Scott
MSW Intern
Lauren Scott is a second year MSW student at University of Georgia. She graduated in December of 2020 from UGA with a BS in Psychology and minor in Spanish. While looking for a field placement, she was immediately drawn to Kate's Club's mission and work with children and families, as she has seen firsthand how death in a family impacts the family unit. It is her belief that programs like Kate's Club help strengthen stability and unity during the bereavement process. She is very excited to be at Kate's Club for 2022-2023 for her final year of her MSW program.

We ride for Camp Good Mourning which is hosted each year at Camp Twin Lakes!
Kate's Club has benefitted from partnering with Camp Twin Lakes for many years. Our first Camp Good Mourning was held at CTL in Rutledge, GA with just ten campers and eight buddies, and we've now grown to having two camp sessions, hosting over 100 campers each!
If you can't head out to Rutledge to cheer on the team tomorrow, then follow us on social media for photos!

“And when great souls die, after a period of peace blooms, slowly and always regularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed."
– Maya Angelous
