Surry Spooktacular: October 27


The Student Government Association (SGA) at Surry Community College is hosting an annual Halloween “Spooktacular” event on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event will be held on the Dobson Campus in the Knights Grill Courtyard, with the option to be moved into the Gym if it rains.

Student organizations at the college are coming together to plan and sponsor different family-friendly activities at the Spooktacular. There will be music, games and a photo booth.

Tickets to play the different games will be on sale with 20 tickets available for $5. Food will also be available to purchase. All proceeds from this event will go to the SCC Angel Tree project.

Student Leaders Attend Conference

The N4CSGA Conference was held in Greensboro over this past weekend. Surry Community College was represented by SGA President Christopher Hernandez (center), Vice President Meredith Mauldin (left), and Co-Advisor Melissa Recknor (right). Chris serves as the secretary of the N4CSGA organization.
Spring 2023 Course Schedule Available

The Spring 2023 Course Schedule is available online for students. You can view it now and start planning for the spring. Current students begin registering on October 31. Returning and new students start registering on November 7.

Program Spotlight: Electronics

Student Carl Gardner talks about the Electronics Engineering Technology program at Surry Community College. Carl became interested in electronics because he liked to collect and repair antique items. He is employed at Hirsch Solutions in Jonesville where he works on industrial embroidery machines; he also has a repair service business.

Veterans Luncheon: November 10

In honor of Veterans Day and free to all veterans, the Veterans Luncheon will be held on Thursday, November 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Shelton-Badgett North Carolina Center for Viticulture & Enology on Surry’s campus in Dobson. Food will be served at 11:30 a.m. with the displaying of flags, and entertainment to follow.

Wine Symposium: November 16

The 2022 Southeastern United Grape and Wine Symposium will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. This year's theme is "Sustainability: Continuous Improvement."

The symposium is being presented by the Shelton-Badgett North Carolina Center for Viticulture & Enology on Surry Community College’s Dobson campus. This Center serves the grape and wine industry, not only in North Carolina, but the entire Southeast by providing workforce training and industry support.

The cost is $125 for early registration for the event, including the Grand Wine Tasting, or $50 for the Grand Wine Tasting. The deadline to register is Nov. 11. Register now..

Food Drive for SCC's Little Free Pantry

The Business and Information Technologies Division will be hosting a food drive for the SCC's Little Free Pantry from Oct. 19 - Nov. 2. Donations of ready to eat food items can be dropped in boxes in the V-Building hallways on the Dobson campus or left with instructors. Donations may also be delivered to the A-Building and B-Building at the SCC's Yadkin Center in Yadkinville. Suggested donation items include Pop-Tarts, mac-n-cheese, granola/protein bars, trail mix, spaghetti, nabs and applesauce cups. What: Fall Drop-in Mini Devotional Time. (Take a moment out of your busy week for a brief time of spiritual growth and a little bit of fuel for your day. We will have a light snack or beverage or both!)

You can upload and locate files and folders in OneDrive, share files and folders, change sharing options, manage file versions, sync files to the desktop, restore files, use OneDrive on mobile devices, and more. Login to myKnightLife, open your email account, then click on the app launcher icon (top-left) to access your OneDrive account.

Reading Glasses Drive

Help make learning a little easier by donating new and gently used reading glasses because we can’t learn what we can’t see.

A Reading Glasses Drive is being sponsored by Surry Community College’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and the Student Government Association (SGA).

Donation boxes are in the following buildings: H, R (Library), A, C and J on the main campus in Dobson and in the B-Building on the Yadkin Center campus.

The Knights Grill offers a full breakfast daily with multiple plate specials and “grab and go” items. Also, a full grill side with numerous selections and Hunt Brothers pizza by the hunk or a whole pizza. The grill also has a sub/wrap station and a full salad bar.
