Join Us for Worship This Sunday! |

Rev. Karen G. Johnston, Senior Minister
Judy Brook, Worship Associate
"Glorious & Enough"
In a world that plies us with lies about perfection and nefarious whispers that we can never be enough, let us proclaim that we are not only enough, but are glorious! Let us do so for every human with our inherent worth and dignity and let us do it also and even more so for those shunted to the sides and shoved to the margins. The Choir will share their glorious gifts. Rev. Karen is in the pulpit.
Join us for worship in person in the Sanctuary, or online. The livestream link and order of service will be shared at bit.ly/FUUSBWorship, or visit our YouTube channel.
Following the service, all are welcome to Coffee Hour in the Community Room.
We are temporarily requesting that everyone mask while in the Meeting House. In the spirit of caring for each other, please stay home if you have any cold or flu symptoms. Thank you.
Children & Youth This Sunday!
Erika Reif, Director of Lifespan Faith Development
Sunday, January 28
Children start in the sanctuary with parents and caregivers this week. After they help with the New Member Recognition ceremony, the adults will sing them out to a group exploration of spiritual practices in the Community Room. Children and youth of all ages are welcome to participate. If your child is new to us, please accompany them downstairs to connect with their guides for the morning before you return to the service.
Congregational Meeting After the Service
Rodney Lowe, FUUSB Board President
There will be a mid-year congregational meeting after the service on Sunday. You can attend in person or on Zoom. This is an opportunity for congregants to respond to and ask questions about our struggles with the current year budget and to hear from Rev. Karen on how her first year with us is going. Childcare will be provided.
Sunday, Jan. 28 at 11:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary and on Zoom at this link: https://bit.ly/42aS3wG
Care for Each Other, and Our Community
Christina Fulton, Director of Operations & Finance
The title of this article says it all. Covid is everywhere right now. Many staff members either currently have it or have had it in the past few months. Many members of our community also have Covid. And the rest are trying really hard to not get Covid. Local hospitals and doctor’s offices are once again ramping up their masking policies. Therefore, we are changing our Covid/Flu statement to the following:
- We are temporarily requesting that everyone mask while in shared spaces in the Meeting House.
- If you have any of the common Flu Symptoms or the common COVID Symptoms, please stay home.
- If you have been exposed to COVID but have no symptoms, please stay masked in the building.
- If you have tested positive for COVID, please isolate.
Remember, staying home doesn't mean you will miss the Worship Service; you can always watch the live-streamed service. And meetings can be held via Zoom, by scheduling a Zoom link with Mary.
Masks can be found in the wall dispensers at both entrances.
Thank you for helping us keep all our members, especially those most vulnerable to illness, safe in our Meeting House!
Eclipse 2024: Did You Know?
Susan Ogden, Eclipse Team
The oldest recorded eclipse in human history may have been on Nov. 30, 3340 B.C.E. A series of spiral-shaped and circular petroglyphs was found in Ireland. Later, around 1200 B.C.E., scribes in China recorded eclipses and said, “The Sun has been eaten.”
Modern science explains the eclipse as an astronomical phenomenon: when the Moon passes between the sun and the Earth, casting the Moon’s shadow on Earth. As it will on April 8, 2024.
We are still accepting homestay donations to accommodate eclipse enthusiasts coming to Burlington. Contact [email protected] or go to the donation form:

Wondering where the Adult Library has gone? We are gradually moving into the space behind the Children’s Library. Come and check it out during coffee hour or anytime you’re in the Meeting House. It’s quiet and we have a great selection of books on UUism, spirituality, grief and caring, justice, etc.
Happy Reading,
Your Library Team
