The Alliance is now accepting applications from current Investors in good standing to serve on the Board of Directors. There are six seats available to serve for the years 2024-2026. If you are interested in applying, you can access the application and additional information at the link below. Applications are due on November 30. The Nominating Committee will review applications for consideration, and those selected will be recommended for consideration at the December 14 Board of Directors meeting. Return North Accepting Company Registrations for the November 30 Event

MTEC SmartZone is gearing up to facilitate the sixth annual Return North Professional Careers Fair, aimed at attracting alums, former residents, and friends of the Upper Peninsula back to the region. The virtual event will be held on Thursday, November 30, from 3 - 6 p.m. EST, utilizing the Brazen platform. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about local career opportunities and connect directly with employers in the Upper Peninsula. Welcome Dr. Nerita Hughes, Bay College President

On November 2-3, Dr. Nerita Hughes was formally welcomed as the 6^th President of Bay College. The inauguration ceremony was held in Escanaba, and a community luncheon was held at Bay West. Dr. Hughes assumed the position of Bay College President in July and recently completed a 100-day listening tour seeking input from students, employees, community members, and business owners. We congratulate Dr. Hughes and look forward to seeing her vision for Bay come to life!

MSHDA offers Tax Increment Financing for Housing

In October, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority Board announced approval of the Housing Tax Increment Financing (TIF) program to create and preserve housing statewide. The TIF program allows tax revenues captured through local brownfield redevelopment authorities to fund affordable housing costs. As MSHDA works with partners across the state to address housing needs, the TIF program will help local brownfield redevelopment authorities and developers to increase attainable and affordable housing options in communities. The TIF program provides an additional way to support housing as the state looks to partner with each region to implement elements of the Statewide Housing Plan.
