Priesthood Sunday

September 25

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.

Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.

Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow

in the footsteps of Jesus.

Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.

Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.

Amen.

September Spirit and Service Project

Community service is an integral part of education at St. Joseph Catholic School. Our service to the community teaches students the importance of making service a lifelong practice, to become better citizens and to live out their faith. St. Joseph Catholic School has partnered with Catholic Charities St. Lucy Food Project to conduct service projects throughout the year and assist families experiencing hygiene items and food insecurity.

The September toothpaste collection will start on

September 6 and end on September 27.

Thank you for your support!

Nurse's Corner

Please take note of the adjusted SJS sick policy:

As a reminder, in order to minimize spread to others, if your child is sick or complaining of not feeling well, please keep them home monitor for illness and make sure they are feeling well before sending them back to school. Your child must be 24 hours fever/vomit/diarrhea free without taking any over the counter medication before they can return to school. And, if their symptoms warrant a doctor's visit, please have them evaluated by a healthcare provider with a note if applicable prior to returning to school. Please keep your child home while you await their test results.

After 24 hours of illness, if your child is still sick, has a fever 100.4 or greater, has vomited and not improving without taking any over the counter medication:

  • Have them evaluated by a healthcare professional prior to returning to school.

Medication Policy:

Please see excerpt from the student handbook:

All OTC and prescription medications are to be kept locked in the clinic/school office and be administered by the school nurse, clinic aide, principal or trained designee. No student is to carry/possess medications, without appropriate medical authorization. No medication will be administered unless the school has received a signed copy of the Medication Authorization Form

(Appendix F-6). OTC medications do not require a health care provider’s signature unless the medication is required for four (4) or more consecutive days.

It shall be the student’s responsibility to come to the clinic/school office at the appropriate time

for medication unless a health care provider or parent/guardian indicates in writing that the student cannot do this.

Students are NOT permitted to self-medicate. The school does not assume responsibility for

medications taken independently by the student.
