Living New York | Vol 79
February 2024
| |
Hello Ayanna,
As we enter the second month of 2024, the NYC real estate landscape has been marked by limited inventory, interest rates maintaining a stable to slightly higher stance compared to December 2023, ongoing global uncertainties, and the commencement of the presidential election cycle. The beginning of this new year is accompanied by questions and uncertainties surrounding rates, macroeconomic factors, and various other aspects.
Renovated properties continue to command a significant premium compared to previous years, with prime locations remaining highly sought after. While there is a noticeable increase in sellers seemingly ready to make a move this year, a considerable number still hesitate due to existing rates and the overall uncertainty that lies ahead. My optimism is cautious but leans towards the possibility of lower rates in the near future, which could potentially draw more sellers and buyers into the market.
Above all, I trust this message finds you in good health and warmth, enjoying the beginning of the year with the anticipation of an exceptional journey ahead.
~Ayanna

10 Ways to Celebrate Black History |
Black history has been threaded into New York City history since before New York City even existed. When the Dutch established New Netherland (of which New Amsterdam was the capital) in the 1620s, they almost immediately began bringing enslaved people on ships from West Africa to build their new colony. In the centuries since, New Yorkers of African and Caribbean ancestry have always been key to making this city the vibrant, brilliant, world-class epicenter of talent, vision, and innovation that we know and love. This February, here are some ways to pay tribute to the strength, resilience, and spirit of New York’s Black communities over the years and honor Black History Month in New York City.
