Dear Susan,

I hope you enjoyed the sunny days we were teased with and continue to be prepared for cold and wet days. January kept us busy with the opening of the East Sonoma County Services Center in Sonoma Valley, now open by appointment. We had a great turnout at both our ribbon cutting and open house events and are grateful for the department heads, county staff, and community members who attended. The center is located at 19080 Lomita Avenue and we will keep our community updated as services and schedules develop. Thank you for the support and advocacy to make this a reality.

As we enter a new month, I invite you to continue reading this month’s short form newsletter for updates, announcements, and community news. Thank you for staying engaged.

Biden-Harris Administration Reforms Disaster Assistance Program to Help Survivors Recover Faster - From our work with fire survivors and my own rebuilding journey, I know how difficult working with the many layers of bureaucracy can be, especially when you’ve lost everything. In the 2017 and 2020 fires, we heard from many people struggling through the FEMA process. Thanks to the administration for working with FEMA to update their assistance policies. I hope we don’t go through another disaster large enough to see these reforms on the ground here, but I am grateful that if we do, it should be easier for folks who have been impacted.
