Celebrating National Disability Employment Month:
In recognition of the important role people with disabilities play in a diverse and inclusive
American workforce, the theme for National Disability Employment Awareness Month
(NDEAM) 2022 will be “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation.” Observed annually in October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices. The annual theme is announced early to facilitate the advance planning of events.
Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month:
September 15 to October 15: National Hispanic Heritage Month. The purpose of this month is to celebrate the accomplishments of Americans with Hispanic and Latino heritage whose ancestors came to the United States from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.
Spend some time this month, discovering Hispanic and Latino history within your community. Perhaps there’s a museum exhibit you can explore, maybe a new restaurant, or even a recipe at home. The more we learn about different cultures and experiences, the easier it is to discover similarities and connections between all of us.
Celebrating LGBTQ History Month:
Every October, The Ohio State University recognizes LGBTQ History Month and sponsors a month-long series of events that highlight and celebrate LGBTQ+ communities of the past and the present through programming, visibility campaigns, and educational events. LGBTQ History The month focuses on developing a sense of belonging and empowerment for the LGBTQ community. We highlight and celebrate the vast history of LGBTQ communities across campus
and globally.

Test your Implicit Bias
This Harvard Project Implicit will ask you to select an Implicit Association Test (IAT) from a list of possible topics. Then you will be asked (optionally) to report your attitudes or beliefs about these topics and provide some information about yourself.
This project is designed to give the tester a better understanding of their own attitudes and stereotypes which can negatively impact their own actions and choices. However, by discovering negative prejudices an individual can work towards becoming more inclusive and accepting in the future!
Click the link above to learn more about yourself today!

Exploding Myths About Transgender and Non-binary People
LOCATION: Zoom
DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, October 19, 2022. 9:00am - 10:30am
Although transgender and non-binary people have gained significant visibility over the past decade, numerous misconceptions and stereotypes still exist and create environments that are unwelcoming or even hostile to people with gender identities that fall outside of cisnormativity (i.e., the belief that being cisgender, or not transgender, is the “normal” and “correct” way of being). Beliefs rooted in long-held myths about people who have for centuries defied conventional gender norms must be challenged and replaced in order to create environments that are inclusive of all genders, not just those who are cisgender. In this 90-minute workshop, we will cover basic terminology and differentiate identities related to gender and sex that frequently get confused. We will address several common myths and misconceptions about transgender and non-binary people and identify strategies for creating welcoming and inclusive environments for people of all genders, including those who challenge cisnormative expectations. Ways that cisgender people can serve as allies to transgender and non-binary people will be identified.

Language of Inclusion: Pronouns & Other Gendered Words
LOCATION: Zoom
DATES AND TIMES: Oct. 25, 2022. 11:00am - 12:30pm
Pronouns are tools for effective and efficient communication, and their intentional or unintentional misuse can cause confusion and harm. Using gender-affirming language such as pronouns and avoiding unnecessary use of other gendered words is essential to creating spaces that are safe, inviting, and inclusive of people of all genders. This 90-minute webinar will address why pronouns matter, the history of singular they/them, neo-pronouns such as ze/zir, alternatives to other gendered language (e.g., sir, ma’am), and ways allies can use language to advocate for and support transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. This program is free and open to all.
