Important Update: Resolution Regarding Homeless Housing
Dear Residents,
Over the past several weeks, The Mayor, Town Council, and Town Staff have received comments through emails, phone calls, and community meetings from residents regarding the possible purchase of La Quinta Hotel by the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust. In addition, our Mayor and Town Council have actively met with Commissioner Cohen Higgings as well as Mayor Levine Cava to express our residents' concerns. As a result of these discussions, we would like to thank Commissioner Cohen Higgins for submitting a crucial Resolution:
RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR COUNTY MAYOR'S DESIGNEE TO:
- Identify Alternative Locations and Options within County Commission District 8 for the Acquisition, Construction, Redevelopment, and/or Rehabilitation of Real Property for Homeless Housing.
- Prepare a Written Report within 60 Days.

Cutler Bay presents at the Miami-Dade League of Cities Conference
Cutler Bay made waves at the Miami-Dade League of Cities' Best Practices Conference on October 11, 2023, by presenting their journey to achieving a rare CRS 3 rating, which significantly lowers flood insurance costs. The panel, featuring Mayor Tim Meerbott, Councilmember Suzy Lord, Town Manager Rafael Casals, Public Works Director Alfredo Quintero, Stormwater Utility Manager Yenier Vega, and David Stroud from WSP, shared innovative strategies and policies for flood resilience. Cutler Bay thanks the Miami-Dade League of Cities for the opportunity to collaborate on a safer future for all communities.

SW 82 Avenue Roadway Improvements and Traffic Circle Project
We are pleased to announce that the much-anticipated SW 82 Avenue Roadway Improvements and Traffic Circle Project is tentatively scheduled to begin construction in January 2024. On Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., the public is invited to an Information Session offering an overview of the project scope and preliminary timelines. This project will positively impact public safety, enhance pedestrian mobility, improve function and flow transit, traffic calming and mitigate local flooding hazards as well as beautify the neighborhood with streetscape improvements. The “open house” style session will provide affected homeowners the opportunity to better understand the project and discuss the construction process with the Town’s project Team on a “one‐on‐one” basis.

Whispering Pines Park is now OPEN! The pervious turf block and storm drain improvements have been successfully completed, and we're thrilled to welcome everyone back. Ghosts, Goblins, and Good Times: Halloween Spooktacular 2023 Photo Album & Recap
