Around the Parish

Calling all Holy Trinity women! Please join with our recent women’s retreat participants on Today (9/29) at 5:30 in the parish hall, as we begin working on the goals we set for reimagining women’s ministries at Holy Trinity. Wine and snacks provided!

Pet Blessing on October 2nd! Mtr. Suz will be blessing all our lovely pets in our parish. We are also collecting pet supplies/monetary donations to support our local Clemson Paw Partners who say, "We help feed so many feral cat colonies and help so many low income families with spay/neuter needs that money helps, but also Tide, paper towels, trash bags, bottled water, office supplies, Purina Cat Chow(dry only) and cat litter our greatest needs".

October 9, 2022 Kick-Off Stewardship "Tailgate" Party! Join your Holy Trinity friends and family in Trinity Place, after the 10:30 service for a catered barbecue meal that is being provided by a generous donor, lawn games and a field-goal Nerf-ball challenge. Bring your own chair for a tail-gating atmosphere as we kick off the Stewardship Annual Campaign Season. You will be encouraged to pick up your 2023 Stewardship Pledge Packet at the tailgate party. Our Stewardship theme next year is Faith, Hope, Love. Those 3 can overcome all adversities, be they internal or external. Our Statement of Mission (SOM) next year is conceived to make Holy Trinity a light in the forest, the church on the hill, metaphorically, as it is in actuality. We have a beautiful facility which needs to be used to the maximum for God's mission to which we are charged. And more importantly, we have fellowship of faithful people who are called to fulfill God's mission in our community and the world. Your pledges and tithes are necessary to make this happen. Don't forget to wear casual clothing.

1:30 PM St. Paul's Workday is October 16 Can you spare an hour or two? We will be planting around 30 evergreen foundation plants along the front fence of our beautiful, historic St. Paul’s Church in Pendleton. We have many tasks to fit all physical ability levels, from digging holes to prepping/mixing soil to mulching around the new plantings and watering. Time and labor permitting, we will have other trimming and sprucing tasks ready and waiting for eager hands. Please bring a shovel if you can because the church only has a couple. Also work gloves and a tailgate chair! Refreshments provided! Questions? Call Michael Diemer at 864.590.4248 or Rebecca Eidson at 864.986.1899 Hope to see you there!

Sunday, October 16 at 5:00 pm at St. Paul’s, Choral Evensong—we will honor Thomas Cranmer, the primary author of our Book of Common Prayer, with a special service of Choral Evensong. The choir will present musical settings for the service that harken back to the era of Thomas Cranmer. Come and enjoy one of the jewels of our Anglican Choral Tradition.

Looking for a gift for someone special? On October 29th from 10AM-2PM for Holy Trinity's Annual Bazaar & Artisan Market The Holy Trinity Crafters have an abundance of items for you to peruse- plants, bakes goods, church mice characters, stained-glass ornaments of the beautiful windows in Holy Trinity, lots of hand- knit items, American girl doll clothes, nativity sets of Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus, and several crosses made from the nails from the old church will be available- keep in mind teacher appreciation! Ongoing Items

Appeal for Funds for St. Paul’s Renovation/Painting Project Several months ago, we celebrated the 200th anniversary of St. Paul’s Church in Pendleton. Often referred to as our “mother” church, this beautiful, historic place is an important part of our parish life, ministry, and outreach to the community. St. Paul’s is now in dire need of a major renovation to its exterior, and we are seeking financial contributions to fund this effort. We need to remove multiple layers of paint applied over the last 200 years, repaint the exterior in its entirety, and repair and reseal the windows. We have been quoted $140,000 for the entire job, which is slated to begin this fall and be completed in the spring. We are seeking grants and diocesan assistance, but your help is also needed in order for us to undertake this much-needed project. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. Checks may be made out to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church with St. Paul’s Renovation in the memo line. If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact Mother Suz Cate or Mary Lou Sigsby, chairperson for the St. Paul’s Committee of Holy Trinity (marylou.sigsby@gmail.com).

Breakfast Team Members Needed! Breakfast Teams prepare, serve, and clean up after our weekly Sunday breakfasts. Each team serves once a month during the school year. There are four established teams who could use another set of hands. Team cooking is tons of fun and a great way to get to know your HT friends better. Please contact Bill Purkerson or Vanessa in the church office if you would be interested in joining a team or just checking it out one Sunday.
