Gas Line Repairs Require Nighttime Road Work at E. Bidwell Street and Blue Ravine Road in Folsom
PG&E is retrofitting natural gas distribution lines at several locations on E. Bidwell Street and Blue Ravine Road, requiring nighttime lane closures now through December.

The pipeline replacement project will improve the distribution of the natural gas system and the safety and reliability of the infrastructure.

What to Expect During the Project
  • Lane closures will be in place during the construction hours of 8 p.m. - 5:30 a.m., Sunday - Friday.
  • Message signs are in place, and flaggers will direct traffic in some cases.
  • Motorists should allow for extra time when traveling through these areas during construction hours.
  • The work may cause some noise disturbances.

For more information about the closures, contact PG&E Customer Impact Specialist William Calvin at 925-421-5255. PG&E encourages anyone who has concerns about natural gas odors in or around their home or business to call 800-743-5000.

Save the Trees, Stress the Lawn
Help your trees stay healthy this summer with regular, deep, and slow watering. Even under water use restrictions, both the State of California and the City of Folsom recognize the importance of keeping your trees watered. Trees are important to the environment and are exempt from the city’s rules limiting watering to two days a week.

Young trees are most at risk during these hot summer months. When drip irrigation is not possible, trees need extra help. Learn the "bucket method" for efficiently watering young trees in this brief video by the Sacramento Tree Foundation.

Traffic Alert: Westbound White Rock Road Lane Closure August 5
On Friday, August 5, westbound lanes of White Rock Road from East Bidwell Street to Oak Avenue will be closed to allow crews to install a new bike/pedestrian bridge over Alder Creek. Flaggers will direct westbound traffic to eastbound lanes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No significant delays are expected.

The new bridge is part of the bike/pedestrian component of the Capital SouthEast Connector project—Sacramento region’s largest approved transportation project. The planned 34-mile expressway will connect the southern area of Sacramento County to El Dorado County in the east and serve as a connection between Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, and Folsom.
Pavement Resurfacing Work Begins
The city will begin an annual street maintenance project starting August 8 on various arterial roadways throughout Folsom.

The project consists of localized asphalt repairs, application of a slurry seal, and new roadway striping with buffered bike lanes. The slurry seal creates a new wearing surface and seals the asphalt to prevent the damaging effects of water intrusion into the pavement.

The following roads will receive the slurry treatment this year:
  • Iron Point Road between Folsom Boulevard and Ingersoll Way
  • Iron Point Road between East Bidwell Street and McAdoo Drive
  • Broadstone Parkway between East Bidwell Street and Iron Point Road
  • Oak Avenue Parkway between American River Canyon Drive and Baldwin Dam Road

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and will continue until late September. At least one single-lane will remain open to traffic at all times.

For more information, please visit the Folsom Public Works website or call 916-461-6713.

  • No irrigation is permitted on Mondays, Thursdays, or Fridays.
