7th Annual Linda Plaut Newton Festival of the Art

What a wonderful Festival weekend we had July 22-24 filled with arts and community! It was certainly a scorcher but we kept our cool and the heat did not deter the fun and amazing collection of local and regional talent that brought music, dance, art, acrobats, storytelling, a summer craft market & more to Newton.

Arts Advocacy Alert

Hooray! The importance of investing in the arts recently got a big boost this month in the Massachusetts state budget. Governor Baker recently signed into law the FY23 budget which included a record $22.5M to fund Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) programming. This is a 12.5% increase from last year. These monies flow directly into local cultural councils across the state, like our Newton Cultural Council, to fund excellence in creative, cultural, and humanistic projects of local artists, arts organizations, and others that benefit and enrich the cultural life in Newton. Thank you to our state delegation for their support - Senator Cindy Creem, Representatives Kay Khan, Ruth Balser, and John Lawn.
