CHARGER CHATTER

January 22, 2024

A Message from our Pastor- Father Ed

Approximately two years ago I was named pastor of the three parishes of Ascension,

St. Albert and St. Charles. Together we would work as a Family of Parishes known

as the Kettering Catholic Community. We have made a lot of progress in working together and we know there is a lot of work still to come.

As I have continued to evaluate where we have been and where we need to go

on this Beacons of Light journey, it is time for a change in leadership.

After much prayer and discernment, and looking at what is best for our Family of Parishes,

I asked the Priests Personnel Board for a new assignment. A new pastor for

the Kettering Catholic Community will lead us through the next years of strategic planning and continued development of shared ministries.

In the next few days, the priests of the Archdiocese will receive a notice of the Kettering Pastorate opening and will be able to express their interest in being our next leader. The Priests Personnel Board, in conjunction with Archbishop Schnurr, will appoint a new Pastor this Spring with his assignment taking effect in July.

I will be with our Kettering Catholic Community until June. I will receive a new assignment this Spring which will begin this Summer.

Please keep me in your prayers as we move ahead in transitioning to a new pastor.

2024 K of C 14995 & ENLC’s Bottles for Babies Campaign:

Saving Lives and Helping Our Neighbors!

“Bottles for Babies” is an annual parish fundraising campaign sponsored by the Knights of Columbus to benefit Elizabeth’s New Life Center. 100% of the proceeds support Elizabeth’s New Life Center’s pro-life mission to Empower Individuals and Families to make Godly life choices.

Our 2024 goal is to save 25 babies. St. Charles parishioners, St. Charles Parents

and school students saved 19 babies in 2023. $500.00 saves one baby!

Brother Knights, St. Charles Parishioners, St. Charles School Students and Parents:

Again, this year we will NOT be distributing bottles in the church to solicit donations. In your January St. Charles envelope packet, you will find the Bottles for Babies

envelope. These envelopes should be returned in the collection or the parish office

anytime in January 2024. Checks should be made out to Elizabeth's New Life

Center. However, we Knights will officially collect envelopes on January 13 and 14 at all masses. Appropriate announcements and promotions will be made through parish

communications. An Elizabeth's New Life Center article will appear in the January LIGHT.

A display will be set up in the Gathering Space on the weekend of January 13 and

14. Knights are encouraged to gather at the display to promote unity to our

project, prior and after their Mass.

A custom made direct ENLC webpage will be operational for online giving for St.

Charles Parish in early January 2024. The webpage address will be available in

January 2024.

The school will be distributing 335 bottles - one per school family. The bottles will

be distributed the week of January 2nd with a return due date of February 2.

Faith Formation will be distributing 46 bottles to CCD families on January 16 with

a return due date of January 31.

Illnesses

As we start a new school year, we expect to see an increase in illnesses as we bring groups together, and this year is no different. To help us reduce illnesses throughout the school year:

  • Please be familiar with the Daily Health Check and HEAL Documents
  • Monitor for illnesses and COVID-19 symptoms
  • Stay home when sick - see Daily Health Check and HEAL documents. If you are staying home, parents must notify the school office 937-434-4933 or office@stcharleskettering.org  by 9am. It would be helpful for school monitoring to report your child's symptoms.
  • Get vaccinated
  • Encourage good hand washing and cough hygiene (sneezes and coughs should be covered)
  • Encourage cleaning measures and proper ventilation
  • If you test positive for COVID -19, please use our reporting tool COVID Notification Form

If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse at 937-660-4266 or sullmer@stcharleskettering.org

If you would like to volunteer at school please following the instructions attached to get enrolled in SafeParish!

You must be SafeParish to volunteer in the classroom, field trips and coach a Charger Sports Team.
