HAPPY FDOC, DEACS!

Today marks the official start of your 2024 Spring semester at Wake! We are so excited to have you back in community and look forward to all Spring has to offer. The new semester also kicks off the start of our important Spring processes. Please see time-sensitive action items to complete and important dates to include on your calendar below!

Occupancy Verification

The start of the semester means it's time to complete your Occupancy Verification. If you have not already, please log into the Housing Portal to complete this quick process by January 22. As a reminder, all students are required to complete this process to confirm that you have moved into your assigned room and that you have working keys. You can view our step-by-step instructions on how to complete your occupancy verification, and if you have further questions, feel free to contact our office!

Potential Facility Issues Upon Your Return

Should you encounter any facility issues upon your return to your space (leak, heat not working, electrical issues, etc.), please submit a work order. Need help? Click here to view instructions on how to submit a work order. For immediate assistance for emergencies please contact Facilities and Campus Services at 336. 758.4255.

As a reminder, the University does not insure and is not responsible for personal property. For additional details, please refer to our Guide to Community Living and the Housing Agreement

If you have GradGuard Renter’s Insurance and need to file a claim, you can do so in two simple ways:

  1. Access your GradGuard account and initiate a claim electronically using the “File A Claim” feature
  2. Call the dedicated claims line at 1-800-719-5915. You will need to have your policy number on hand in order to expedite the process.

If you have your own renter’s insurance, you’ll need to contact your provider regarding how to submit a claim.

Looking Ahead to the 24-25 Academic Year!

Housing applications for the 24-25 Academic Year will open on January 22 via the Housing Portal, with selection to take place March 25-28. We’ll be providing more information on the process throughout the coming months, but encourage you to pencil in these important dates on your calendar and consider some important questions:

  • Where do I prefer to live?
  • What should be my expectations based on my number of housing credits?
  • Who do I prefer to live with?
  • Should I really live with my best friend?
  • Will I be applying to be an RA?
  • If I want to go abroad, when?

Don’t worry; you have time to figure this out, and we’ll help you walk through these and other questions in the coming months and at our Spring Housing Selection Information Sessions (more details to come). For now, we hope you'll take a moment to reflect on your Wake Forest experience thus far as you begin to plan for what you would like your residential experience to look like next year. Our current 24-25 Housing Selection schedule and info can be found here.

As you plan for next year, be sure to review our 2024-2025 Opening and Closing Dates! As you begin to consider travel arrangements, we encourage you to consider flexible options where possible in the unlikely event that dates change. As a reminder, due to limited time between semesters, we are unable to offer extensions beyond our closing dates and may be limited in our ability to honor early arrival requests.

Have questions? Email us at housing@wfu.edu or give us a call at 336.758.5185 during business hours. We look forward to our continued partnership with you as you create a home here at Wake Forest. As always, Go Deacs!
