Prayer Partner Alliance Newsletter
June 2022
Having arrived at the midpoint of 2022, we are prompted to reflect on blessings past and look forward to achievements yet to be accomplished.

Just as spring is the season of planting, summer is the season of growth and expansion. We have been greatly blessed watching our clients gain physical strength as well as spiritual maturity. We’ve had both challenges and miraculous successes.

Thanks to the generosity of our many donors, we have been able to offer our residents a variety of activities. We have also expanded our services by hiring more staff, enhancing our technologies, and touching more lives.

This month, we had the opportunity to involve residents, staff, donors, and the community by participating in the “Faith and Family Night” at the ballpark. This event at Hammond Stadium, featured a concert by Sidewalk Prophets and an exciting baseball game. Kimber, one of our clients, was a hit when she threw out the first pitch.

Please continue to watch us grow as we prayerfully embrace staff changes, strive for improvements and work assiduously to achieve the goals we announced earlier this year. During this period of change and growth, we will prioritize the importance of high-quality programming, thereby helping more people live their optimum lives.

Change is necessary and inevitable during periods of expansion. We ask for your continued prayers as we strive to achieve the ambitious goals announced earlier this year. Your giving is also crucial in helping us reach more clients and meet the growing needs of our community. Please consider joining the growing number of regular monthly donors who help us make this God's Protected Harbor.
Governance Committee Member
Spotlight: Caren Mikesh
One of the miracles of Protected Harbor’s mission is the eclectic group of people God inspires to join our organization. Bringing talent, knowledge, and skills, each offers selfless service to help God’s special people.

One such person is Caren Mikesh. Caren hails from North Dakota, is married to Vince, and has two children, Lilly and Chris. She also has a sister with special needs prompting her interest in working with that special population while in college and beyond. Caren’s children recently graduated from high school and are attending college. She felt it was the right time to give back and currently serves on our Governance Committee.
Behind the Smiles: Meet Ashley
Residing in a Protected Harbor home, Ashley has adjusted very well. She describes herself as being very happy living amongst friends and staff. She demonstrates her contentment by helping with daily tasks around the home and encouraging her housemates in their endeavors.

Additionally, Ashley demonstrates her giving nature by volunteering at her church. The balanced feeling of being needed both in the house and at church gives her great satisfaction and peace. During her leisure time at home, she enjoys interacting with the staff and fellow residents, by engaging in various activities including completing puzzles and cooking her favorite meals. She is proud of her ability to contribute.
We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from our donors.  In response to the many calls we receive asking how you can help, we are continuing our Online Wish List.  Click the Contribution link on the left for a current list of items needed and desired for the homes.  Items are shipped directly to the homes making it even easier for those wishing to lend an extra hand of support.
