How Can Post-Exam Reviews Become a Powerful Teaching Strategy?

Part of the Assessment series of the Enhancing and Supporting Teaching program. During a learning-oriented post-exam review, students have opportunities for metacognition, identify strengths and gaps in their knowledge, explore content to apply classroom knowledge, and differentiate correct from incorrect thinking.

Attention Second Year Tenure-Track Faculty: Frances R. Lax Fund 

The Frances R. Lax Fund for Faculty Development provides $1000 stipends (for up to 13 recipients) to probationary, full-time tenure track faculty in the second year of service for professional development activities, including conference registration, academic travel, or academic materials.

PD: Using Canvas to Support Communication with Students

Using Canvas to Support Face-to-Face Instruction is a professional development certificate series that covers the benefits of using a learning management tool and gives you teaching strategies that you can implement today. The hybrid workshop sessions use Canvas and are offered as either a Mini-Course or Standalone Workshop.

A free two-week course designed to teach you not only how to use the Hypothesis tool, but how to design social annotation assignments to best support your students’ learning. Asynchronous on Canvas and Slack.

Frequently Asked Questions about IDEA SRIs. Cross-listing is used for sections with very small enrollments that would benefit from combining those sections into one course evaluation. More about Cross-Listings. To be cross-listed, courses must be taught by the same instructor and must be in the same part of term.

Professional photos: no appointment needed, no charge. The photographer will give copies of all photos to the Office of Media and Public Relations for use in promotion of faculty and staff activities and accomplishments.

Military Appreciation Week

Stars and Stripes Training

The Stars and Stripes Training informs the Rowan community about issues specific to veteran students. Learn more about this population and review common scenarios between veterans students and the Rowan community. Important Information for Faculty and Staff.

Join Military Services in these two initiatives through December 20. Receive a prize basket raffle ticket (Dec. 21 drawing) for any donation dropped off to Savitz Hall or during a Military Appreciation Week event. Email Military Services with questions. There are also drop boxes at Business and Shpeen Halls.

Toys for Tots Drive

Join the ROTC collecting toys for the Marine Corps Reserve Drive.

Operation Yellow Ribbon

The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) is collecting new items for military care packages for Operation Yellow Ribbon.

November 7: Throwback Tuesday: Stop by the Military Services Office to see photos of our military-affiliated students!


November 8: Military Resource Center Open House: Stop by Military Services, Savitz Hall.


November 9, 11am-3pm: Thank You Thursday: Stop by to write a thank you for a service member. These will be given to Operation Yellow Ribbon (see above).


November 10, 2pm, Business Hall: Stars, Stripes, and Beyond: a discussion on best practices to assist military-affiliated students. Chat with current students and alumni on their experiences.


November 10, 7pm, Wackar Stadium: Military Appreciation football game vs. William Paterson.


November 11 (observed at Rowan on Nov. 10): Veterans Day is a federal holiday that honors the more than 19 million men and women who have served in the U.S. military. World War I officially ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. Show military members gratitude.


November 11, 9 pm, Student Center: $1,000 Stars and Stripes Bingo: Non-military participants can get an extra bingo board by bringing a new item for military care packages for Operation Yellow Ribbon. Veterans and their families get an extra bingo board by showing a Military ID.
