Dear Meher Center Family and Friends,
October 16 is the anniversary of the start of the New Life, the period beginning in 1949 when Baba relinquished nearly all of His physical possessions, cut off external contact with His lovers throughout the world, and set off across India with a small group of His Mandali. Baba said of this powerful and inscrutable period:
"This New life is endless, and even after my physical death it will be kept alive by those who live the life of complete renunciation of falsehood, lies, hatred, anger, greed and lust: and who, to accomplish all this, do no lustful actions, do no harm to anyone, do no backbiting, do not seek material possessions or power, who accept no homage, neither covet honor nor shun disgrace, and fear no one and nothing; by those who rely wholly and solely on God, and who love God purely for the sake of loving; and who believe in the lovers of God and in the reality of Manifestation, and yet do not expect any spiritual or material reward; who do not let go the hand of Truth, and who, without being upset by calamities, bravely and wholeheartedly face all hardships with one hundred per cent cheerfulness, and give no importance to caste, creed, and religious ceremonies. This New Life will live by itself eternally, even if there is no one to live it."
On another note, next weekend, October 21, 22, and 23, Ward Parks will be presenting a seminar at Meher Center: "Creation and Its Causes: Meher Baba’s Revelations to the Meher Ashram Boys in 1927–28 on Creation Cosmology and the Spiritual Path".
Two sessions will be held in the Meeting Place each day-10 - 11:30 in the mornings, and 2 - 3:30 in the afternoons. The sessions are open to all, but if you are not staying on Center and are planning to attend, please let the Gateway know so we can plan accordingly.
We expect those from nearby to be coming in through the Gateway as early as 9:30, and sign in there as usual. If you plan to stay through the lunch break, be sure to bring your own picnic. The communal kitchens are only for Center guests assigned to them. And please remember, no food or beverages in the Meeting Place.
Happy New Life in Meher Baba’s Love,
Buz Connor
