Join José Vilahomat for a talk about the origins of archaeology and its importance to understanding human history. He'll cover the main concepts and how the discovery and excavation of artifacts has evolved over time.

Take your paper crafting techniques to a new level with paper weaving textures. This class/workshop will allow you to explore her favorite collage techniques and how woven paper can be added for extra detail. Find the technique you enjoy the most to create your own small work or greeting card.

You’ve worked hard planting and tending your garden all spring and summer, now it’s time to reap the benefits. Join Katie Walter to learn delicious recipes featuring late summer produce. This is a great class for beginning gardeners who are wondering how to use their new garden vegetables, as well as for seasoned gardeners who are looking for new and delicious ways to use up their bumper crops (like zucchini). Even if you don’t have a vegetable garden, recipes will feature produce that is available at farmer’s markets, CSA’s and local grocery stores at this time of year.

Join us for an artist reception featuring renowned Chinese calligrapher and painter Mike Mei. Mr Mei melds his mastery of the ancient calligraphic arts with contemporary perspective and innovation. The reception will begin with a fashion show in the Living Room followed by a reception in the Large Meeting Room.

Time for Summer Learning Bingo!
There’s still time to get in on Summer Learning Bingo, a fun way to move out of your reading comfort zone and discover more of what Cary has to offer! The program, funded by the Friends of Cary Library, runs through August 19 and will draw the winner of a gift certificate every week (limit 2 prizes per contestant).
 
Come by the main Circulation Desk and pick up your Bingo card next to the self-checkout machines. Dive into that summer reading and other fun activities in and around the Library to check boxes! When you have filled in at least one complete horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row, drop your card in the entry box for a chance to win. You’ll get an extra chance to win if you leave three book recommendations on the back of your Bingo card. These recommendations will be featured on our Idea Wall in the Living Room at the end of the summer!
