Artists-in-residence work to reimagine a vision of what the MMAM gardens could be.

Two social practice visual artists in residence, Ian Hanesworth and Marlena Myles, will engage with the museum, the museum’s garden, the Mississippi River, and the Winona community as they reimagine and sketch their visions of what this garden can represent going forward.*

Sonja Peterson creates large-scale artworks and installations from complex and intricately cut paper that explore the flora, fauna, and the history of travelers above and below the world’s waters.**

Clara Ueland creates beautiful and colorful intaglio prints inspired by her trips to the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, Lake Superior, and Scotland.***

Karen Savage-Blue's work explore themes of internal reflection, identifying with nature, and exposing transitions from human to natural forms.****

Anne Labovitz creates colorful and powerful large-scale works and installations that invite the audience to consider their lives in connection to water.*****
Join us for our arts access special event, Seasonal Saturdays! This day includes $1 admission, live music, storytelling, guided tours, art-making, and gallery bingo.******

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum + River Arts Alliance are coming together to bring you a monthly informal artist exchange - a chance for artists and creatives from across a variety of mediums to gather for inspiration, exploration and exchange at the museum. Registration required.

Moonshot Studios is engaged in an ongoing investigation with clay. Inspired and influenced by shapes and textures in the natural world, wares are often constructed from locally harvested sand, rock, stone and other materials that are tested and reabsorbed into clay bodies
This engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest GIG Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from Minnesota State Arts Board.
