PEORIA (January 10, 2024) – The Peoria Park District is proud to announce its recent successful accreditation by the American Camp Association (ACA).
Over the last year, the District has been participating in the volunteer accreditation process to earn this mark of distinction for its 5 summer camp programs.
“The District is proud to announce its Accreditation through ACA,” stated PPD Out of School Programs & Camp Coordinator, Jess Main. “Accreditation provides caregivers with the reassurance that they’ve picked the best place for their kids to be while school isn’t in session.”
Peoria Park District hosts 5 summer camps throughout the District located at: Proctor Recreation Center, Lakeview Recreation Center, Peoria Zoo, Riverplex Recreation and Wellness Center, and Ancient Oaks Summer Day Camp at Sommer Farm.
“The District is committed to providing high quality parks and recreation experiences for all those who live, work, or play in the District,” stated PPD Executive Director, Emily Cahill. “This accreditation demonstrates our team’s commitment to providing safe and fun camp experiences that are managed based on the best standards available.”
The District is hosting a Camps and Sports Open House this Thursday, January 11th from 4 -6:30pm at the Noble Center in Lakeview Park. The open house lets protential campers ask questions, learn more about the camps and find the perfect fit for their summer of fun! Sports programmers will also be onsite so guests learn about upcoming leagues and activities! Scholarship applications will be available at the open house.
Registration for all 5 of the District’s accredited camps opens on January 16th for in-district patrons (January 22 for out-of-district patrons) and do fill up quickly. Spring break camp offerings are currently open for registration.
