A Southern Baptist Association

From Your

Associational Mission Strategist

It’s hard to believe that we are already in the month of February. This month is known as the love month as we nationally celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 14th. When I think of Valentine's Day, I think about God’s love for us. We wouldn’t even have the capability to love if it weren’t for God loving us first and showing us what real love is all about. I want to encourage you during this month to show Christ's love to everyone you meet. I have encouraged all the churches in our Network to participate in an Evangelism effort to get the Gospel to every home in our communities. Several have received the materials, and I am praying that more of our churches will participate. The materials include a Gospel track and the Jesus Film DVD. Each church will also receive plastic bags to put the material in so they can hang it on the doors of the homes in their community. Several of our churches that have received the materials will also include information about their church and put items like a small Bible inside the bag. I am asking each church to choose times during this month or next month before Easter to include everyone in your church by going out to the neighborhoods around your church and sharing the love of Christ by sharing the Gospel.

I am excited about our upcoming “Equip Conference” at Pinecrest Baptist Church on February 29th. I want to encourage our churches to attend this special evening of training. There will be a meal served at 6:00 pm, and there will be a plenary session at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. We will then have breakout sessions for the several areas of ministry of the church. You will notice in the flier we have published that there will be a breakout for the areas of Sunday School, Discipleship, Missions, Evangelism, Children, Youth, Music, Women Ministries, and for Pastors. The breakouts are being led by many of our consultants from the Georgia Baptist Mission Board and I know they will provide great training in each of the breakout sessions. This conference is not just for the leaders leading the ministries of your congregation, but we want everyone who can come and receive the great information that will be given. We are asking that each church let us know how many are going to attend so we will have enough food for the supper and adequate space for the breakouts. I hope to see you all on the 29th.

The association office has a small emergency food pantry that ministers to those in need. Many of those who we assist only have a microwave and do not have access to a stove and/or oven, so the above listed items are primarily needed.
