Monday Memo

October 30, 2023

Note from School Leaders

Dear Rising Tide Students and Families,

As we enter the final week of the first term of the school year, a number of our students are involved in some exciting extra-curricular events. Our Girls' Varsity Soccer and Boys' Varsity Soccer teams have each qualified for the MIAA state tournament, with the tournament pairings to be announced this Wednesday. Congratulations to our student athletes! Later this week, on Thursday and Friday evening, Middle School students will perform the fall play, The Seussification of Romeo & Juliet. We encourage everyone to come support the fall play and the tournament soccer games.

November 1 also marks the opening of the primary enrollment period for the upcoming school year. Please let any friends and neighbors know about the upcoming opportunities to learn more about why Rising Tide might be the right fit for their family.

Have a wonderful week.

Sincerely,

Michael O'Keefe

Head of School

Update from the Parent Group

MUFFINS IN THE MORNING – THANK YOU!

Thank you to all the families who donated items for last Thursday’s Muffins in the Morning event at the Middle School -- it was a great success! We want to thank three local companies – Ocean Spray, Leyden Street Coffee, and the 3A Café and Bakery – who generously donated products for the event, too. And, of course, we were thrilled to see so many family members who attended to learn more about their middle school student’s school day. You can see photos on the RTCS Parents Facebook page and also below under Recent Happenings. Huge thanks to Cory Mace who coordinated the event again this year and to the fabulous volunteers who helped the morning run smoothly.

HELP STOCK THE STAFF BREAKROOM!

The first term is coming to a close and we want to show our appreciation for the Rising Tide staff by stocking the breakroom during November's Conferences. Will you help?

We are looking for donations of grab-and-go meals, baked goods, and snacks -- as well as beverages and other goodies that you think the staff would enjoy. We have included Amazon links so you can buy online and have it shipped to school, or you can buy a similar item locally and drop it off at school yourself. If you want to bake a treat and/or your family has a fave item that you think the staff would enjoy, please sign up and donate that. We ask that all items are individually wrapped for that grab-and-go convenience.

Alternatively, you can make a monetary donation and we will do the shopping. Donations in any amount can be made to Staff Appreciation activities via your My School Bucks account. In the My School Bucks Store, among the Featured Items, you will see the Rising Tide Parent Group (not the SEPAC or general school Donation), click there, and enter your donation. Please type “Staff Appreciation” after your name so we know how to account for the donation.

However you choose to participate, please sign up so that we know to expect your contribution - and try to deliver your donation on or before Thursday, November 9. Thank you for helping show our Rising Tide staff our gratitude for all they do for our children every day, but especially as the term closes, report cards are due, and conferences commence.

Seventeen Rising Tide Seniors Have Been Named Adams Scholarship Winners

We are pleased to announce that 17 members of Rising Tide's senior class have been named a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship winner. These Rising Tide seniors are qualified to receive the scholarship upon acceptance to a participating Massachusetts public institution of higher education.

The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship is a merit-based program that provides a credit toward tuition for up to eight semesters of undergraduate education at a Massachusetts public university or community college. For this scholarship, merit is based on student scores on the 10th grade Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test.
