Ponder, Be Patient, and Imagine

Dear Wai-Lam,

In the last year and a half, we have learned key information, witnessing again the painful past of our country, while attempting various ways to walk in reconciliation.

I confess that I have left some opportunities to engage with matters of truth and reconciliation very overwhelmed. And yet….

As someone seeking to follow Jesus, depending on His Spirit in my journey, and trying to be like Him in my attitudes, behaviours, and character, it is important for me to stay in it.

I hope you receive the conversation below and the resource we have put together as an invitation to remain in it, stay present with these conversations, and reflect deeply on what God may be saying or asking of you (and of us).

Feel free to visit worldpartners.emcc.ca/orangeshirtday/ for this year's resource, along with past reflections as you continue to engage in this space.

Thanks for being on the journey together,

Director of World Partners, on behalf of the National Team

A Conversation with Alison Lefebvre, Gavin Wark, and Nicole Jones-Qandah

Please watch and/or listen to this conversation between Alison Lefebvre (EMCC Ordained Minister, EMCC representative on the EFC Indigenous-Settler Relations Working Group), Gavin Wark (EMCC Ordained Minister serving at Royal City Mission, member of EMCC’s Facilitation Team) and Nicole Jones-Qandah (Director of World Partners). We hope you feel you are among friends, as we explore and consider together what God’s invitation continues to be for each of us in this space.

To quote Shari Russell, “How can we let the learning have its way with us?” I hope this conversation helps prime us to engage in an embodied way with the invitation before us to engage in reconciliation, starting with ourselves.
