FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS

The annual banquet for the

Findley Lake Volunteer Firemen’s Association

was held on Saturday October 28th at Majestic Woods.

This important event honors the men and women that courageously serve and protect our community every day of the year.

In the center of the photo holding the award certificate is Addison Auge who was named Firefighter of the Year. Chief Jack Hamilton presented the award based on Addison’s consistent and selfless volunteer efforts throughout 2023. In addition, several lifetime members were in attendance. Beginning second from the left are Barb Howard, Craig and Phyllis Tunbuckel, then Dave and Sherry Brumagin.

Our keynote speaker was Sheriff Jim Quattrone. His address focused on the importance of community support for our volunteer firefighters and EMS. Each volunteer sacrifices valuable time away from family, friends and work to respond to each call from the community. We are fortunate to have welcomed three new volunteers this past year. Jessy Shmulski, Charles Armstrong, and Gary Millspaw have each joined the department in service of the Findley Lake Community.

Pastor Dave Cook hosted the event and opened with a prayer for all current and past volunteers. A special memorial is always included to honor those members lost in the months since our last banquet. Pastor Dave shared the many personal and professional accomplishments of lifetime member Douglas Brumagin who died November 9th 2022. His dedication to service and love for his community will be remembered always.
