Recipe of the Month: Apple Dumplings
Fruit dumplings were popular in European countries. When colonists came to America, the recipe for fruit dumplings followed. The colonists had to use the fruit that was available, which popularly became apples. In apple dumplings, pastry is wrapped around a peeled and cored apple and sealed with a twist on the top. The dumpling is then baked to a golden brown in a buttery sauce.
