Closer To Home Has Helped To Fund 28 Long-Term Care Beds With 29% Campaign Completion

Hello James,

We have made significant progress on the Closer To Home campaign in the past 6 weeks, thanks to a variety of donations, grants, and our Run For Home event (detailed below).

This translates to 28 beds having the community funding they need for the 96-bed long-term care home construction project! This translates to roughly $725,000 in pledges received to date.

We have 68 beds left ($1.77M) or little over $26,100 needed per bed in community fundraising. This can come from individual or corporate donations, and it can be pledged over multiple years or "invested" in one lump sum. Thank you to everyone who has supported DRDH with this campaign so far.

Let's keep going! I'm constantly impressed by the generosity in our community and I believe we are doing the right things to bring this campaign to completion. If you have suggestions for me, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Sincerely,

James Thompson

Highly Successful Run For Home Event Brings In $38,000

We are delighted to announce the success of the Run For Home fundraising event held on Saturday, June 24. Over $38,000 was raised for the Closer To Home campaign to build a 96-bed long-term care home beside the hospital.

This family-friendly event saw an impressive turnout of 272 participants, who eagerly ran, walked, and moved to support the cause, with dozens of informal participants.

DJ Will Fitton, known for his contagious energy, set the mood for the day while a local band, Common Ground & Friends, led by Gerald Chaput, kept the atmosphere upbeat with hours of live music. Bistro 86 & Market was onsite, serving a free BBQ thanks to Canadian Tire Deep River. A bouncy castle, face painting, free treatment from VC Athletic Therapy, and a complimentary breakfast table (courtesy of Jan’s Valu-Mart and Tim Horton’s Deep River) added to the fun. Thanks to the Town of Deep River for a $10,000 special events grant.

We couldn't have hoped for a better event! We are immensely grateful to everyone who participated and volunteered this year, with very special thanks to co-organizers Colette Giroux and Amanda Haughton for bringing Run For Home to life.

Congratulations to pledge competition winners Kailynne LeBel, Josie Law, and Ann Serdula, who were the top three pledge earners, for raising a combined total of $2,800. Additionally, RE/MAX Pembroke Realty, the event's champion sponsor, hosted a raffle that raised $1,000 at the event.

Deep 50/50 Begins Pause

Over the last 12 months, we have sold over $125,250 in tickets and distributed $74,625 back as prizes to the community through the Deep 50/50. Although we are pausing this fundraiser, we are still working hard on the Closer To Home campaign to build a 96-bed long-term care home.
