Architect Meet & Greet Outlines Ludlow Project

Shaker Heights residents, including members of the Ludlow Community Association, attended a meet-and-greet session with the GPD Group, the Akron-based firm the District has engaged to design the renovation that will convert Ludlow School into a PreK complex. The meeting took place October 26 in the small auditorium of the High School.

At the meeting, GPD reviewed the design and construction process, the timeline, listened to feedback and discussed future engagement opportunities. A variety of topics related to the renovation were discussed, including:

  • How the building can be converted into a facility that serves PreK learners
  • Using the renovated building as a community asset that will serve the needs of the Ludlow community, including preservation of the athletic field and playground
  • Preserving trees and other natural amenities surrounding the school

Reminder: Apply Today for the Community Stakeholder Group

The District is accepting applications from community members wishing to participate in the Shaker Schools Facilities Advisory Committee. To apply, click here

The Shaker Schools Facilities Advisory Committee is a stakeholder group that will help shape and guide implementation of the Long-Term Master Facilities Plan, provide community feedback as the District works to implement the Master Facilities Plan and engage with the broader community regarding the implementation of the Master Facilities Plan

Submissions for this form are due by 5 p.m. on November 6. The stakeholder group will consist of approximately 30 members. Half of the group will be determined by random lottery and half will be appointed by the District and Board of Education to ensure equitable demographic and geographic representation.

Members of the group will be identified by mid-November. It is expected the group will hold its first meeting by early December and will meet monthly thereafter.
