Bill Zwiener '73 Chosen as Tau Man of the Year
Bill Zwiener, co-owner of one of the state's leading petroleum land management companies, has been chosen as Tau Man of the Year, the highest honor awarded by the Texas Kappa Sigma Educational Foundation. Jones & Zwiener, founded in 1987 to provide comprehensive land services to the Oil & Gas Industry, has built its reputation on integrity and outstanding performance.

Serving as Tau Trustee Chairman since 2018, Bill has also served on the Trustee Executive Committee and Nominating Committee for several years. In 2020, Tau Chapter actives honored him with the Frank Erwin Award for his exceptional support and leadership.

"Bill has been a tireless servant to Kappa Sigma," said Steve Horn '73. "His love for the fraternity and his Tau brothers is second only to his love for and devotion to his family. No one is more deserving of Tau Chapter's highest honor."

He is one of three generations of Tau Kappa Sigs, along with his father, Lonny (1925 - 2005), and his son, Russell (Tau '01). As an active, Bill served as Grand Master of Ceremonies, Grand Procurator, and was a Silver Spur. He graduated from UT Austin with a BBA in Petroleum Land Management in 1977.

"Bill has been a Tau leader since he was a pledge," said Jim Pritchett '71. "His pledge class was small but crucial to the survival of our Chapter when I was GM in the 70s. He provided the 'glue' we needed to strengthen and build the Tau Chapter."

Bill enthusiastically supports the Wounded Warrior Regiment, which provides for the recovery and non-medical care of combat and non-combat wounded, ill, and injured Marines and their families. He is also a loyal supporter of Folds of Honor, an organization that provides scholarships to spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service members.
Bill and his wife, Jeanie, have four sons: Russell, a pediatric gastroenterologist in New Orleans; Zach, head brewer for Community Brewing Company in Dallas; and Shane and Garrett, both Los Angeles-based actors. Russell and his wife, Jaime, have three daughters, Emmie, age 9; Molly, age 7; and CeCe, age 2.
