Do you have a project or an interest group idea you think would benefit the group?

THE STRUGGLE TO "HEAL HARD HISTORY" IN VOLUSIA COUNTY
October 8th, a panel from Volusia Remembers Coalition will speak to us about their efforts to explore racial justice and healing! The mission of this group is to remember, acknowledge and reflect upon our history of racial terror. In April 2020 Volusia Remembers officially became a Community Partner of the Equal Justice Initiative.
They will tell us how, through this partnership, they began soil collection for a ceremony honoring 1896 racial terror lynching victims Mr. Charles Harris and Mr. Anthony Johnson that was held Saturday September 17, 2022. That program shed light on Mr. Harris and Mr. Johnson's humanity and the miscarriage of justice they suffered at the hands of a white mob near what is today, Osteen.
When: Saturday, October 8, 2022, 11:00-!2:00
Where: Ormond Beach Public Library, 30 S Beach St, Ormond Beach, FL 32174
If you wish to join us for lunch after, we will be going to:
Lulu’s Oceanside Grill, 30 S Atlantic Ave,
Ormond Beach, FL 32176
AAUW members have been invited to attend
Please RSVP to Jeanne Tanke: jeanne622lwvvc@gmail.com by Oct 6th
Be sure to let Jeanne know if you would like to go with us to Lulu’s for lunch. Let Jeanne know if you are coming to the event, even if you are not going to lunch.
