Sea King Sunday Update

Dear Sea King Families,

As we head into this last week of September, I am amazed at how quickly our first month of school has gone by.  This month has been filled with activities and events to support our students' success and encourage their involvement on campus.  To just name a few, we have held Welcome Week, a back-to-school dance, student workshops, an activities fair, pep rallies, lunchtime events, Yellow Ribbon Week, numerous athletics games and several college admissions events.  I would like to thank all of our teachers, counselors, coaches, and staff for a successful first month of school.  I am confident that this is just the start of an amazing school year!

This past week, we welcomed our Sea King families to Back to School Night.  While I was walking around that evening, I was so impressed with the information our teachers were sharing with the parents.  Teachers were excited to share their passion for teaching, their content area, and our school community.  There was a positive vibe on campus as parents visited classes, reconnected with old friends, and shopped for spirit wear.  Thank you to our PTSA and Booster Club for their support of our evening.

As we head into Homecoming week, our kids will have a variety of activities and events to celebrate being Sea Kings!  We hope to see all of our students at our events this week.

I hope you and your family enjoy the Monday Student-free day!  We will see students back on campus Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Dr. Trista Ramirez

PVHS Principal

The PVIT Underwater ROV team was invited to present at the latest school board meeting, in part to celebrate their 7th Place finish at the MATE Worlds Competition over the summer. Senior Jenna Chow and sophomore Andrew Moore spoke about the engineering challenges and successes that the team had throughout the year.

All members took part to answer technical questions from the school board. The board members with engineering backgrounds especially enjoyed their conversation with such young and highly technical engineers.

Congratulations to the team for their polished and professional presentation.

Science National Honor Society Hosts Community Event!

On Saturday morning, the PVHS Science National Honor Society students partnered with West Basin Municipal Water District to distribute 230 free 50-gallon rain barrels to our community. A successful event that will help save water and reduce stormwater runoff!  Thank you to Mrs. Kuhn and Mrs. Maemoto for advising this group!
