Middlesex Centre recognized as Dementia Friendly Community Supporter
On Jan. 4, Middlesex Centre unveiled a new decal on the doors of the Komoka Wellness Centre that recognizes the municipality as a Dementia Friendly Community Supporter.

The decals will soon be on all municipal buildings, provided by the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners in acknowledgement of Middlesex Centre’s efforts to build a community where people living with dementia and their care partners are welcomed, included, and supported.

Community Improvement Plan - Grants for Local Businesses

The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) looks to revitalize areas across Middlesex Centre by providing funds to local businesses. Grants of up to $7,500 are available for façade, signage, accessibility, energy efficiency, and other improvements.

Free Skates in January, February and March

Join us for free public skating at the Komoka Wellness Centre and at the Ilderton Arena this winter. Please see the website for dates. These free skates are sponsored by the Komoka-Kilworth Optimist Club and the Bryanston-Birr Optimist Club.

New Program: Knitting, Crocheting & Cards for Seniors

Get to know your neighbours while sharing knitting and crocheting projects or playing a game of cards at the Ilderton Seniors Centre (at the Ilderton Arena). The drop-in program runs from 1:00 to 3:00pm on Tuesdays until Feb. 20. No charge to join.

Learn Tai Chi - Program Open House - Ilderton

We are offering Learn Tai Chi programs this winter. Join us on Feb. 1 from 1:30 to 3:30pm at the Ilderton Community Centre for a free introductory class. No registration is required to attend the Open House.

Spring & Summer Recreation Program Registration
Spring and summer recreation programs open for registration on Friday, Feb. 16, at 10:00am.

Summer programs include archery, yoga, pickleball, various arts and culture activities, and much more! There are programs for all ages at community centres across the municipality.

Programs will start the week of Mar. 18.

Reminder: Dog Tags
All dogs living in Middlesex Centre must have a valid dog tag. Tags are issued for the lifetime of your dog at no charge to you.

  • Are you new to Middlesex Centre or have a new puppy? Apply for your dog tag online.
  • Have you moved or has your pet passed away? Please call or email the office so we may update our records.

Dogs are not allowed to run-at-large anywhere in Middlesex Centre aside from designated off-leash areas. Please pick-up after your pet and properly dispose of any waste.

Barn Safety starts with a Fire Safety Plan
People, animals, and property are in danger when fire breaks out on the farm. Inspect your barn and outbuildings for fire hazards and have a fire safety plan to reduce the risk of tragic loss.

Stormwater Management Ponds: Stay off the Ice

We'd like to remind everyone that stormwater management ponds are not safe for winter activities like ice skating, hockey, sledding or even walking across. Please stay safe - obey posted signs and stay off stormwater management ponds.

Winter Parking

There is no parking on municipal roads between 2:00 and 7:00am from Labour Day to Victoria Day. While this is particularly important in the winter to allow for snow clearing, this restriction applies at all times, even when there is no snow present.

First Responders Night with the Komoka Kings

Komoka Kings Hockey invite all area First Responders and their families to be their special guests as they take on the St. Thomas Stars on Saturday, Feb. 24. The puck drops at 7:15pm at the Komoka Wellness Centre.
