The Falcon Flyer - Website Edition

January 17, 2024

stay connected_720x254.jpg

Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,

We hope today’s Falcon Flyer finds you safe and warm. Due to the recent winter weather challenges, we utilized two emergency closing days to ensure the safety of students and staff. We understand that snow and cold temperatures can make travel dangerous, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility during these challenging times. There were several essential repairs that popped up and had to be taken care of during the days off to have the facility ready for students’ return today. Fortunately, we were able to get the service technicians in despite the cold and snow.

As a result of utilizing the two snow days, we will need to add two days to the end of the school year. The last day of school will now be on June 3, 2024. The Rondout Talent Show is the end of the year activity, and it will be held on the last full day of school. The Talent Show takes place every three years, and we hope many of our students will participate in this fun way to highlight the wonderful talents of our students (and staff). Parents and friends will be welcome to join the audience that day for our own Rondout’s Got Talent 2024.

Eighth grade parents, please note that the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2024 will still be taking place on Wednesday May 22, 2024, as many families have already planned for the celebration with family and friends.

On another note, our website host was experiencing some challenges today so you may have had difficulty getting to our website at times throughout the day. Work will continue to bring a long-term solution to the website issues that have popped up today.

Please stay safe and warm as we face some new weather challenges in the days ahead. From the forecast, it does not appear that we will be facing the challenge of another snow day, but we will continue to monitor the weather in the weeks ahead as we navigate through the remainder of our Midwestern Winter. Stay warm and safe.

Best regards… Until next time…

2024-2025 Calendar Highlights

Please click on the box above to see the calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. Due to legislative changes, there will be no school on the date of the general election on November 5, 2024 which will add one day to the originally approved calendar. The 2025-2026 calendar is on the drawing board and it should be ready to share by the end of next month. We will follow the high school district calendar for winter and spring break.

We are currently planning a special multi-cultural learning experience for our students, exploring the rich culture and traditions of India at the end of February. If you share this cultural heritage or know of others in the community, please complete the form below as we are looking for volunteers to assist us on this journey.

You can also note if you have other suggestions for future cultural celebrations.

The Public Works Village Department is sponsoring the USAgain “Tree Machine”. They will plant a tree for every filled "Tree Machine". We will be able to keep track of our progress on an individual dashboard which will calculate the impact of our donations.  The collection bin is at the northwest corner of the staff parking lot. Please do not leave items outside of the bin and honor the collection guidelines. Thank you in advance for supporting the efforts of our students to support the future of our planet.
