2023-2024 Art Reflections |
I Am Hopeful Because...
The theme this year was created by Alice Meko, from Hampton Cove Elementary School, in Alabama. A theme that elicited the creative process and imagination of our students here at California High School. And I can honestly say that the work turned in is filled with emotion, triumph, despair, agonizing thoughts and questions, hope, light, bravery and vulnerability. Over the past six years, being the Art Reflections Chair for Cal High, I have seen such talented students expose their creative process and bravely embrace the possibility that things can change - if there is hope. It has always been my hope to enhance the possibility that art lives inside each one of us. That Art Reflections is just that - art reflecting life. And Cal High has been so wonderful at supporting this PTSA program!
I want to thank each student that entered the contest because your work is astonishing. Thank you all for being brave and allowing the process to unfold.
This year, like years past, I will be updating students through Bear Facts as they advance through the judging process.
Important Dates:
December 1st 6pm - 9pm
Art Reflections Showcase and Awards Ceremony
All student submissions will be on display with live performances by each student
Family and Friends are all welcome!
School Level Deadline: October 20th
[awards at the school level will be distributed on December 1st]
Council Level Deadline: November 6th
[awards at the Council level will be distributed on December 7th at the Council Showcase]
