Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) recently announced that she will be retiring from office on August 12 and will not be seeking a fourth term as Alderman of the 43rd Ward in next year’s municipal election. The city’s process for selecting the next 43rd Ward Alderman has begun. Interested candidates must complete this application, as well as submit a cover letter and resume to aldermanicvacancy@cityofchicago.org or mail an application to City Hall. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5.

The Mayor has also launched a short survey to ask what issues are most important to 43rd ward residents. Click here to take the survey.

The LPCC would like to thank Alderman Smith for her wonderful partnership and dedication to Lincoln Park.

Illinois will offer a sales tax holiday on qualifying items from August 5 - 14 including clothing and footwear under $125 per item and select school supplies such as binders, book bags, notebooks and more.

Retailers must adjust their method of collecting sales tax so that beginning on August 5 and ending at the close of business on August 14, they will collect the reduced tax rate on qualifying items.


We were very saddened to learn of the passing of Chef Dominique Tougue on July 20, 2022. Chef Dominique was the owner of Chez Moi and French Quiche.

Visitation will be held at Drake Funeral Home (5303 N. Western) from 4:00 -8:00 p.m on Monday, August 1. A non-religious service will be held during the visitation at 630 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to Food Allergy & Research Education or Operation North Pole.

Chez Moi and French Quiche will reopen on Wednesday, August 3.

The City of Chicago has launched a free and voluntary camera registration program open to anyone who lives or operates a business in Chicago.

By registering your camera, you are simply allowing the Chicago Police Department to contact you in the event of a crime in your area and detectives need additional footage. The Chicago Police Department will not have direct access to your camera system and cannot access camera footage without your consent.

Get reimbursed for private security devices purchased on or after June 6, 2022 for your business, condo association, non-profit, or religious organization through Chicago's new Home and Business Protection Program.

Rebates include up to $225 per camera for a maximum of 2 cameras and up to $100 per light for outdoor motion-sensor lighting.
