Raul and Susanna Cortez-Perez paid off their Habitat home!
|
Congratulations to Raul and Susanna Cortez-Perez, our 45th homeowners, for paying off their Habitat home this month! As many of you remember, the Cortez-Perez family built their home alongside numerous volunteers in Denton in 2003. The home was built as part of Habitat's Homeownership program and was dedicated to them in July of that year, meaning this hardworking family paid off their mortgage in just 20 years!
We are continually amazed by and honored to work with families like this one. This family has accomplished something truly incredible, thanks to YOUR support!

Champions Rotary has been an incredible local supporter of Habitat for Humanity of Denton County. Currently, they are raising funds to build a Habitat home out in Justin, TX through annual golf tournament fundraisers. Last year, they put on an amazing sold-out First Annual Golf Tournament, and this year's Second Annual Golf Tournament is coming up soon! Registration is open now for players and teams to sign up. Sponsorships are available as well.
Spread the word and join us on Friday, November 3 to help build a Habitat home in Justin! Thank you, Champions Rotary, for recognizing what a difference homeownership makes to families in our community.

City of Denton HOME Grants
|
The City of Denton has always been a huge supporter of Habitat for Humanity of Denton County, and we are grateful to have such a great relationship with our city. Over the last two years, Habitat has received $580,000 total in City of Denton HOME Funds, which will go directly toward building Habitat homes in the Habitat Village!
"Affordable housing is a strategic priority for our City Council," said City of Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth. "Habitat's efforts to increase affordable housing units and access to housing for lower-income households furthers our community goals to improve the stability and the quality of life for our Denton families and neighborhoods."
With this amazing support from the City, along with our many other community partners, we are confident that we will begin building these Habitat Village homes soon that are needed now more than ever.

We are raising funds to develop 8 acres of vacant land in Southeast Denton and establish a new "Habitat Village" housing development on the property. As many as 35 new affordable homes will be built alongside local families in need via this development. This project involves developing the infrastructure of this neighborhood, including the streets, sidewalks, utilities, proper drainage requirements, and everything else needed to support a neighborhood of 35 homes.
