The winter days are winding down and at TXCPA Dallas, we are “March-ing” toward an exciting spring!
Convergence 2024, to be held on Friday, May 10 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, is only a couple of months away. If you haven’t registered yet, we encourage you to do that right away as space will be limited and Early Bird pricing runs out on the 31st of this month. The regular Member price of $110 is a bargain for an event of this caliber; the Early Bird price of $75 is a steal you don’t want to miss out on. This year’s conference offers 26 sessions, including a luncheon keynote address on the advantages of the subscription model by Ron Baker, Founder of VeraSage Institute. Leading-edge information. Excellent networking opportunities. Great venue. Price: $75. Register now.
As a Convergence 2024 bonus, we’re offering a state-approved Ethics course on Thursday, May 9, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., also at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel for a low Convergence price of $75 for members and $125 for non-members. Kathy Kapka will be on hand to present her popular four-hour Ethics class, Ethics for Texas CPAs. If you are in need of Ethics credit, we invite you to enroll now. This event is sponsored by FORVIS.
Don’t miss our Thirsty Thursday Social Hour on April 25 where we will recognize our Convergence 2024 sponsors. Join us from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Blue Mesa Grill on Montfort Drive. We always have a large turnout for this gathering, so it’s an excellent chance to visit with old friends, meet plenty of new ones and give a big thank-you to the good people who make our signature event possible year after year. There is no charge to attend, but we do ask that you let us know you’ll be there, which you can do by clicking here.
We have several CPE opportunities coming up this month. The first course in our three-part Cash Management Series, Best Practices in Working Capital Management, will be taught by Bill Moss on March 14. Chris Lee will present Chat GPT: How Conversational AI is Transforming Business on March 20, and the Business & Industry Committee will host a tour of the Buzzballz Carrollton facility in its continuing Behind-the-Scenes series on March 25. We hope you’ll join us for all these great events.
Remember to take advantage of Early Bird pricing and sign up for Convergence 2024 before March 31. We look forward to sharing the day with you.

Your Contribution to the PAC is Vital
The TXCPA PAC helps TXCPA protect the designation for every single one of us – we all reap the benefits of identifying CPA-friendly candidates, and there’s no question that giving as a profession is far more impactful than anything we could do individually. And, as a profession, we cannot afford to leave the outcome of legislation in the hands of uninformed or unfriendly legislators.
PAC contributions have enabled TXCPA to protect the profession you’ve worked so hard to be a part of. In 2023, TXCPA advocacy efforts to increase the number of CPAs entering the profession were highly successful during the Texas Legislative session thanks to PAC donations. Two bills were signed into law by the Governor: SB 159 allows CPA candidates and students to begin taking the CPA Exam after completing 120 credit hours and HB2217 expands the TSBPA accounting scholarship program to make scholarship funds available to more accounting students.
As we move through the 2024 election season, we ask that you once again consider giving to the TXCPA PAC. Numerous incumbents and friends of TXCPA have decided to retire from public service and leave politics. Political challenges from the once-in-a-lifetime impeachment to the controversies over school choice and school vouchers means that Texas is likely to lose some significant experience in the Legislature.
Remember, we’re all winners when the TXCPA PAC is strong and able to work for the CPA profession in Texas.
For us, a PAC contribution is just doing our part. Please join us in giving what you can. Thank you for your support!
