April Policy Update
CHILDREN AND FAMILY CERIMONIAL BILL SIGNING
YWCA Utah was honored to host Governor Cox, Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson, esteemed legislators, community partners, and local journalists for a ceremonial signing of bills that promote safety, well-being, economic security, and address health inequities for some of the most marginalized families in Utah.
RALLY FOR ABORTION CARE
Ahem. In other news, HB467, the bill that requires all abortion care to take place in hospitals, is set to go into effect on May 3rd. Planned Parenthood Association of Utah and ACLU of Utah are challenging key aspects of this law that functionally bans abortion across the state. We don't know how litigation will go, so it is important to gather and make it known that the majority of Utah does not want or need more abortion restrictions.

Join the Rally for Abortion Care on May 3rd at 6PM at the Salt Lake City & County Building. ADA seating and ASL interpretation will be available.
THANK YOU 2023 PUBLIC POLICY INTERNS
We want to extend immense gratitude to Morrison Donovan, Justice Advocacy Fellow, Madi Hawes, Public Policy Intern, and Erin Robins, Public Policy and Communications Intern, who championed the work needed to advance our mission through public policy advocacy this year. Their dedication, passion, humor, brilliance, and breadth of incredible skills made for an unforgettable and impactful legislative session.

Morrison Donovan is graduating this May from the University of Utah with a degree in Health, Society, and Policy, and minor in Sociology and Anthropology. Madi Hawes is continuing her education at Brigham Young University studying Sociology and Global Women's Studies. Erin Robins graduated in December from the University of Utah with a degree in Writing & Rhetoric.

We will miss having them on our team and wish them all the best on the next part of their journeys!
From L-R: Morrison Donovan, Madi Hawes, Gabriella Archuleta, and Erin Robins.
Our paid internships are open to the community regardless of enrollment in a college or university. We look for people who are passionate about advancing racial and gender equity through public policy advocacy. If that’s you, keep an eye out for public policy internship positions that will be posted to our website in the fall!
