Community Impact Opportunity

SAKLC members can help economically challenged families achieve home ownership – the traditional American dream and pathway to financial stability. Join the SAKLC Volunteer Construction Team on February 20th for a morning (7:30 to 11:30) of productive work on new homes being constructed in Bradenton, one of which is the InterFaith Build home (SAKLC’s Community Services Ministry is a sponsor along with several other faith communities).

Roger Arnholt, member of SAKLC, Board member for Manatee Habitat for Humanity, and construction volunteer for the past 11 years is organizing and will lead the SAKLC Team. There is work for anyone and everyone – no matter your previous construction experience or physical capabilities.

To sign up or request additional information, email Roger at rogerarnholt@aol.com or call the church office (941.388.1234)

ARE YOU READY FOR THE SOUPER BOWL?

Once again, SAKLC will collect funds and food for the Souper Bowl of Caring. On two Sundays, February 4th and 11th, look for the soup pots and table in the narthex to make your donation. If you prefer, you can donate by using the link below. Please choose “Community Service Ministry” and specify in the memo line “Souper Bowl”.

Funds will be divided equally between All Faiths Food Bank and ELCA World Hunger. Non-perishable food items (no glass, please) will be given to the Youth Shelter and Second Chance Last Opportunity.

Can we beat last year’s collection of $2,500 and 378 food items? I’m sure we can, because you’re SOUPER!

A frustrating and recurring phrase from childhood is this: “You’ll understand one day.” It is a variation on, “I’ll tell you, when you’re older.”

Refugee Ministry Thanks You!

What a joyous day Sunday was for our ministry. This family of five from Cuba got everything they needed for their apartment and they came and loaded everything themselves which was a huge help. They were so grateful. Thank you for your donations. We also need financial support. Please mark your checks for Refugee ministry when you give. Thank you!
