Kid's Art Contest Winners
SPHA received outstanding recognition from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), following the most recent reviews of agency performance. SPHA now holds the distinction of earning the "High Performer" designation, HUD's highest possible rating, for its two major housing programs. To celebrate this accomplishment, SPHA invited its young residents to share their creativity! SPHA held a Kid's Art Contest with the theme of "What Home Means to Me."
SPHA Hosts Homebuyer Information Sessions
SPHA hosted two enlightening homebuyer information sessions for our FSS participants and FSS waiting list members.

Representatives from NACA - Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, Dwayne Jordan and Miranda Page, did an excellent job explaining the opportunities for homeownership through NACA and the strategies that SPHA families can take to be successful in the program.

Maintenance in a Minute
Prevent home fires: Clean out the dryer vent

According to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), there are 2,900 home clothes dryer fires reported every year, causing an estimated five deaths, 100 injuries and $35 million in property loss. Cleaning out the lint filter after every laundry load isn’t enough. The dryer vent leading to the outside should be cleaned annually to ensure it’s not clogged.
