Presidents' Corner

Deb Harris, Cindy Heckler, Sue Stealey, Co-Presidents

Thank you to more than 30 members who attended our Welcome Back Social on September 21st. In addition to socializing time and our regular meeting, Harriett Lindstrom organized a Celebration and Closure program for the Used Book Sale.

Coleen Walter noted that over $124,000 has been awarded to 73 individuals in scholarships and grants. Sharon Maher and Vida Winans told stories about the Book Sale, and Mary Beth Weeks spoke about the yellow shirts. Barbara Norem was recognized for her 25+ years working on the Sale, and all Book Sale chairs were asked to stand and be recognized. (Harriett's photo compilation of book sale chairs is above.) The entire branch was thanked for yearly participation. At the end of the evening, a group picture was taken of attending members in a yellow shirt.

Now it’s time to turn the page, put our heads together, and figure out how we will fund the Back to The Books scholarship program in the future.

The Yellow Shirts Are Retired!

All who attended the Fall Kickoff Meeting and Social helped to give a meaningful end to our collective adventure. It is exciting to announce that ALL the shirts went home with someone and $320 was collected for NCCWSL (scholarships). We had a great picture on the Library steps with everyone wearing a yellow shirt.* Thank you to all who shared stories.
