The workshop will be held in person on March 13th at the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission Building (723 Woodlake Dr, Chesapeake, VA 23320). There will be a streaming option for a portion of the workshop.

The High Ambition Coalition to
End Plastic Pollution is committed to develop an ambitious international legally binding instrument based on a comprehensive and circular approach that ensures urgent action and effective interventions along the full lifecycle of plastics.
Their common ambition is to end plastic pollution by 2040. At the outset of the plastic treaty negotiations, they have outlined three strategic goals and seven key deliverables for success in this regard.

ABOUT THE EVENT
The Surfrider Foundation, Virginia Chapter, and the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center are partnering to organize an opportunity for local and regional organizations that have an environmental mission as their primary purpose to come and educate the public on their environmental initiatives.
Saturday's (2/24) events will be geared towards a more mature audience in the North building. Sunday's (2/25) events will be geared towards a younger/family audience in the South building.
Each day, there will be four speakers who will share their organization's current environmental initiatives. There will also be tables set up where organizations can showcase their mission, current events, and other relevant information.

On February 24, 1 to 3 p.m., you can help clean up trash or control invasive plants. This is our rescheduled Martin Luther King Day of Service event, cancelled because of snow. Register below.
Check in at Belle Haven Park south parking lot or the Haul Road trail bulletin board off Marina Road. We will provide some gloves, tools and trash bags. For both, wear sturdy shoes, long pants and sleeves, gloves and sun protection. Bring water.

On June 30, 2022, Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 54 (Allen, Chapter 75, Statutes of 2022) into law to address the impacts of single-use packaging and plastic food service ware. This landmark packaging law requires that by 2032 California:
