News and Updates

Super Bowl Monday

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, February 12, the day after the Super Bowl. This day is a reward for our students meeting their goal in the Christmas Present Drive.

Conference Information

Our second semester Parent-Teacher Conferences will be Thursday, February 15. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to sign up for a conference with the teachers of their child(ren). We ask that only one time slot be used per child, per teacher. Fenwick encourages our teachers to be active throughout the community, especially with student activities. For this reason, some of our teachers have limited availability on conference night. If this is the case for a teacher you wish to meet with, please email the teacher explaining the reason you wish to meet and ask to set up a time that works for both of you. A sign up is required for a conference with a teacher—no walk-ins.

Conference signups will close at midnight on Tuesday, February 13.

Below are links to the sign ups. The links are based on the first letter of the teacher's last name.

  • Teacher last name G-K - click here.

  • Teacher last name L-O - click here.

Fenwick Faith Formation

Catholic Schools Week

This week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week. Throughout the week, we took extra time to learn and grow in our Catholic identity. Students participated in a virtual conference with Archbishop Schnurr where they had to opportunity to ask him questions about the Church, Catholic education, and hear some of his own personal story.

Additionally, a handful of students represented Bishop Fenwick High School at the Cathedral in downtown Cincinnati where schools from across the diocese joined to celebrate Holy Mass. Did you know that the Archdiocese of Cincinnati has the 5th largest Catholic School system in the nation? It was beautiful to see so many of those schools come together at the Cathedral and recognize how each of us play a small, yet integral role in the Mission of the Catholic Church. We are grateful here at Fenwick to have the opportunity to form students and lead them to the fullness of life that we find in Jesus Christ.

Optional Summer Retreat Available!

This summer, Campus Ministry hopes to bring a group of Fenwick Students to the Steubenville Youth Conference on June 21-23, 2024. This is a unique opportunity for students who are seeking to know more and grow in their faith! Both Ms. Laake and Ms. Richardson attended a Steubenville Youth Conference when they were in high school and had transformative experiences. The cost per participant for the weekend would be $265, not including transportation. Please use this link and fill out the form to indicate your interest. Please reach out with any questions!

First Friday Adoration

This year we have been able to offer Adoration on the first Friday of every month due to parent volunteers who have signed up to come to the Chapel throughout the day. Our students are able to come in either with their classes or in their free time throughout the day. We have a few slots open for the next several months. If you are able to come in and spend an hour in Eucharistic Adoration, please sign up using this link.

Counseling Connections

What’s New

Last Friday, a group of Fenwick students engaged in Sources of Strength Peer Mentor training. The day was full of activities and interactions aimed at familiarizing the group with the tenets of the program while challenging them to identify their own strengths and supports. These leaders will assist a team of faculty as they promote “Hope, Health, and Strength” throughout our school community. Stay tuned for updates on our future campaigns.

The course selection process for the 2024-2025 school year begins next week. Teachers will be discussing their recommendations with students. Counselors will then meet with each grade level to explain the process in detail. Students should be prepared to discuss their course selections with parents by February 22.

Flock Block with the Counselors

Sophomores were introduced to Olweus Bully Prevention Roles. Beyond the grade school model of bully, victim and bystander, the students contemplated a variety of other roles one could take in a bullying scenario.

Class of 2025

Juniors were emailed the second half of their Birkman results. During Flock Block they worked through Career Clarity Module 3. All juniors now have access to their entire Birkman report and should have it saved to their Class of 2025 Class Notebook.

Mental Wellness Tip

With Valentines Day rapidly approaching, please take a moment to read some insightful thoughts courtesy of Mr. Fred Rogers:

“When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting. And less scary. The people we trust with that talk can help us know that we are not alone. Love is at the root of all learning, all relationships…love or the lack of it. Everyone longs to be loved and the greatest thing we can do is to let people know they are loved and are capable of loving.”

College Credit Plus

CCP Information Night

The State of Ohio has a program called College Credit Plus (CCP) that allows students to earn college credit and high school credit while still in high school. Most out-of-state colleges will refer to this as "dual enrollment."  It is only called CCP in Ohio.

At Fenwick, it is typically juniors and seniors who are involved in CCP, but by state law, the CCP program is open to everyone at Fenwick. CCP courses taught at Fenwick are only open to juniors and seniors. There is an option for any student at Fenwick to take a CCP course either online or on the college campus.

The first step of learning more or participating in this program for the 2024-25 school year is to attend a mandatory informational/counseling meeting. This is a requirement set by the State of Ohio.

The remaining Informational/Counseling mandatory meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 25 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Fenwick Main Gym. Required sign-in will be in the main hallway. Please arrive in time to sign in and get settled in the main gym to start at 6:00 p.m. If you did not attend the earlier meeting on December 10, you must attend this meeting.

  • If the student and a parent do not attend this meeting, the student will not be permitted to participate in the CCP program. There will be no recording of the meeting.
  • Please plan ahead - students should ask off work from their part-time jobs or volunteer, families should make arrangements to be able to attend this meeting.
  • Parents and students will be required to sign in at the meeting and submit a signed form stating that they attended the meeting in full.
  • Parents and students are required to attend even if they have participated in CCP before.
